Second Annual National Day of Prayer for the Canadian Military

 

The Military Christian Fellowship of Canada together with the National House of Prayer are calling for a 

Prayer Vigil for the Canadian Armed Forces.

On Saturday January 19, at 5 p.m. EST, we will be meeting in front of the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill, Ottawa.  Please join us wherever you are.

  For those with a burden to pray for our young men and women in uniform (and their families), join in prayer at your churches, on Bases, by the local Armories, in your home, and let us come as one to petition ...

- for the perfect will of the Lord for our military, 

- for the protection of our soldiers in action, 

- for abundant grace and spirit-filled military chaplains, 

- for the protection of the soldiers families, and

- for the healing of our soldiers and their families after deployment.


Please pass this announcement along to your church and all those you know that pray.

Last year over 50 other communities in Canada organized a similar prayer vigil in their region.

1. Pray for our M.P.'s and Senators as they spend the next 5 weeks with their families in their home ridings.  May the Christmas season bring a revelation of the Saviour of the world. 
 
2. Praise God for a leader and a government that is not afraid to say "Merry Christmas!"
 
3. As announced, on Thursday, Dec. 13, Bill C-484 a private member's effort by M.P. Ken Epp entitled "Unborn Victims of Crime Act." began its second reading in the House of Commons. Please keep this in your prayers as M.P.'s begin to consider their position.

"A Nazarite Call"

For over a year now I have been burdened to see the level of prayer increase across our nation. God has been speaking to me at various times and in very unique ways regarding this conviction. One of the ways that God has been showing me how to fulfill this is a Nazarite call to adults between the ages of 18 and 35, to set aside 4 - 6 months to intercede for our nation.
 
WHAT'S A NAZARITE?
A Nazarite was one who voluntarily set aside an unspecified period of time to seek the Lord. Nazarites sought to live to a high degree of purity for the set amount of time. 'All the days of his separation he is holy to the LORD' (Lev.6:8). I am not saying that we need to resurrect this Old Testament practice! But we can learn from the principle that at certain times and for a specific purpose of dedication, God will bless such endeavors.
 
HOW HAS GOD CONFIRMED THIS?
#1.  While hiking the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island, I was amazed and a little frightened at having a bald eagle swoop down several times just over my head. People who were watching from a distance said that it looked like the eagle was trying to land on my head! The bird landed on a branch not far from me and I was able to take its picture; it then flew into the forest where our path was taking us as well. As we walked along the trail, we were drawn to eagle in tree 2a strange sound further into the forest. As we explored the sound, we suddenly found that it was raining twigs and fluff of all sorts and we soon realized that we were privileged to witness this same eagle tearing apart its nest. It was time for the two eaglets to leave the safety of the nest and fly into their own calling. We watched with amazement as two eaglets caught the Pacific wind and flew off.
God spoke to me at that time regarding the Christian young adults of Canada, that it was time for the Church to stop calling people in their 20's and even early 30's  - "youth". They are adults and now need to be released into their individual callings.
 
#2.  Right on the heels of this event I had a dream. I saw thousands of young Canadian geese rising off the river and coming straight for me. Behind me was a horrific principality wanting to kill me and take my authority. This demonic being was so focused on my anointing that she did not see the geese coming straight at us. A voice in the dream told me to "duck" and I got out of the way to see these geese go into the principality like arrows. The principality was taken out in a way that my generation was unable to. I awoke and shared the dream with Fran and the Lord told me to read Psalm 127  "Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth ... They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate."  There are battles to be fought for crucial issues facing our nation and our young adults are a key that I believe God will use.
 
#3.  It was after this that I felt the Lord speak to me from the book of Leviticus that "the fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out." (Lev.6:13). I felt that this referred to intercession for our nation and that at the very least the level of prayer for Canada needed to increase. Then the Lord became very personal and asked if I would be willing to be the offering and call others to join me to help maintain the fire of intercession.
 
HERE IT IS: A NAZARITE CALL
I am issuing a call to young adults who feel called to set aside four to six months to be an offering unto the Lord for Canada and who will allow the fire of intercession to consume them for our nation.

MARCH 2008
We are praying that those whom God will call will be ready to be with us at the National House of Prayer for the beginning of March. We will start with two weeks of intensive training after which we will assign different prayer-watches, both at NHOP and in Parliament. Existing staff and Prayer- Missionaries will help in every way with the "push" of intercession. As well, visiting teams of intercessors will come to help keep a momentum of prayer going for our nation as God directs.
