Ukraine/Romania Trip
Brian in Jamaica

(Rob & Pastor Sergei his translator)

In mid-September Rob Parker, our director, will be joining again with Mike and Sharon Molnar to head to the Ukraine and then Romania to encourage intercessors and pastors in their national prayer efforts.  Many of you will remember the amazing opportunity they had a year ago in Kiev as the Church in that nation repented for their anti-Semitism.

This time they will be hosting a conference for intercessory leaders with the aim of increasing the unity amongst praying believers in the hope of a National House of Prayer emerging in the Ukraine.  Rob will also be connecting with leaders in Romania who have started a House of Prayer.

It is a huge sacrifice for believers in these countries to participate.  The cost for the conference is only $25.00 US including meals but this still represents a month's wages for many of them.  Obviously we are underwriting most of the expenses but we are also hoping to fully sponsor 200 intercessors who would not ordinarily be able to attend.

If any of you feel nudged by the Spirit to sponsor some of these Ukrainian leaders for this training conference, please call us at NHOP about how you could contribute.  Our goal is to raise $5000.00 US.

prayingPrayer Points

1. Pray for the Prime Minister and his Cabinet.  As we predicted in our last newsletter there was a cabinet shuffle and there are now new ministers leading key portfolios, like National Defence, Foreign Affairs and Agriculture and others.  Please be praying for these Cabinet ministers and their relationship with their new staff members.

2. Please pray about the state of our current parliament now that the Fall session has been delayed and a new Throne Speech will be given on Oct. 16th.
This means the current parliament has been prorogued. (We explained that in our last edition.)
There are all kinds of good unfinished pieces of legislation that will now have to be reintroduced.  Also there is lots of speculation about a Fall election.
Pray for the all-party negotiations that are now underway to agree to restart older bills at their current status.

3. We thank the Lord for the release of the remaining 19 South Korean hostages in Afghanistan and the faithful witness of the two men who were martyred.
Let's pray for church leaders in South Korea as they consider how to respond to the ban on Afghan missions work that has now been imposed.

NHOP School of Prayer

If you live in the Ottawa area, you will soon be seeing posters or hearing radio ads about our Fall class entitled "Handling Your Sword" which will be a 12 week Monday evening course looking at praying in a Biblically accurate manner.

Breaking News

NSoI Calgary

Again this Fall we are working together with Cityscape Prayer Ministries to train Canadian intercessors.  This time we are in the West.  In 2008 we are already planning on schools in Quebec and the Maritimes.  You can get the application for the Calgary school at the website below. Complete details will be available next week.

renovations in dining room

(Repairing and repainting the dining room)

Greetings,

Like most ministries, September for us means the beginning of many new things.  We've been under renovations getting ready for the arrival of Fall prayer teams and interns as well as more Prayer Missionaries.  We have below several more photos of the work going into the NHOP centre.

Beaudoins
This is Levis and Andrew Beaudoin creating an overflow prayer room to be used when our other larger prayer rooms are full.

Having Prayer Missionaries year round means that we will need more rooms for intercession.

Conrad painting
Our regular painter, Konrad Wuhr, has now finished an olive-green coat on our reception room, making it the fanciest space in the house.  He's been doing our first floor hallway this week.

plumbing

Connard Hoffmann quickly put his plumbing tools to good use.  We've also fixed leaking pipes in other bathrooms.  An older home never stops leaking!

New Staff Welcomed

Connard and Deanna

Connard and Deanna Hoffmann have now joined us from Lethbridge, AB.  They could use your prayers as they adjust to the big city of Ottawa with its traffic and mysterious one-way streets.  Deanna is taking on the duties of our kitchen and Connard will be overseeing the maintenance of the building.  We are so glad to have them fill these two large roles at NHOP.  Like their predecessors, Doug and Michelle McMillan, they will be living in an apartment on site.

It's nice to be missed.  Some of you have been asking if you missed an edition of our newsletter.
Actually our editor Richard Long was just taking a few weeks holidays.

We hope many of you will be visiting us over the next few months to enjoy the new look that all our renovating has created.

With the changes in Parliament's schedule, it is even more critical that we fill up all our weeks this Fall.  Currently we have the week when Parliament opens (Oct. 15 - 19) unfilled and we are looking for a team to step into that gap.

Thanks for standing with us in prayer.

Representing you in the nation's capital,

              the NHOP team
