Prayer Points

1. Pray for our Senators.  (Feel free to include our NHL team!)  The whole question of reforming the Senate has surfaced as a major issue this week.  Changing this 140-year-old institution will require great wisdom, patience and prayer.

2. Pray for the House leaders from the various parties as they seek to negotiate a way through the impasse that the minority government faces.  Our M.P.'s have yet to learn how to make a minority situation work for the good of Canadians.  Especially pray that the many important House Committees will find solutions and create good legislation.

3. Thank God that there are more and more initiatives between the current government and the First Peoples.  Let's keep praying for Indian Affairs Minister, Jim Prentice as he seeks to settle over 800 longstanding land claims.   Let's also continue to pray about the plans for a national Day of Protest on June 29th.

4. Please pray for us at NHOP as many churches will be focussing on our NHOP Sunday theme this weekend and raising a "toonie" offering for our ministry.

Greetings!

This week at NHOP we were thrilled to host 3 teams from various parts of the nation.  A large team of 15 from Summerside, PEI, was joined by 7 others from Newmarket, ON, and 5 more from Fort Saskatchewan, AB.  In particular this combined team had wonderful opportunities to meet and pray with Senators.  They also connected with numerous M.P.'s and one team even had a private audience with P.M. Stephen Harper.  (See that story below.)

Stephen Harper 02
A highlight of their school field trip to NHOP in Ottawa, for the team from Fort Saskatchewan Christian School, was the private meeting they had this week with P.M. Stephen Harper.

Their M.P. Ken Epp arranged for them to meet in the official office of the P.M. to present him with a framed prayer that one of the girls had an opportunity to pray over him.  The words of that carefully crafted prayer are below.

This "New Generation Prayer Team" was formed at the onset of the school year at the request of Jr. High students who had an urgency to support their national leaders in prayer.  The culmination of their weekly prayer meetings was this planned trip to the National House of Prayer and the unique opportunity to actually pray with the Prime Minister here in Ottawa this week.

(We especially love to host young people at NHOP and would welcome inquiries about how your student group could be hosted in our facilities as part of a field trip or prayer mission to Ottawa.)

A New Generation Prayer for Authorities

Heavenly Father, God of all wisdom and power, we humbly come before you to pray as you have instructed us in your Holy Scriptures, for all who are in authority.
We pray that they would find in the Bible and through prayer, their source of strength and wisdom.
We pray that they would remember that they are accountable to God Almighty for the tasks they perform and the decisions they make.
We pray that they would be able to resist those who may pressure them to go against their conscience and would have strength and courage to do what is right.
We pray that by your guidance, they would seek to preserve the blessings of freedom and opportunity for the generations to come.
We pray that they would seek to bring back honour and respect, honesty and trust to the positions of power they hold.
We pray finally that they would seek to be an example of good character and moral integrity to the Fathers, Mothers, Sons, and Daughters of this great nation; Canada.
May the God of Peace be with you all.  Amen.

(Why not use this prayer with your prayer group, thereby increasing its weight in the throne room, and the power of blessing upon our Prime Minister and others in government leadership?)
