Prayer Points
Praying Hands

1. Pray that the strong and clear words spoken at the National Prayer Breakfast will continue to resonate in the hearts of the hundreds who attended.  Let's ask the Lord that many would be drawn to the Saviour.

2. Continue to pray for our military and their role in Afghanistan.  The war gets very politicized on the Hill, but our prayers should take the perspective of heaven.

3. Thank God for the good legislation which is being passed into law this week and next.  Despite the adversarial nature of Parliament, we keep praying that good work will get done.

4. Let's pray that the Lord would continue to bring good out of the very difficult situation that Christian hockey player and Team Canada captain, Shane Doan, has gone through this week.  Pray that M.P.s from all parties would learn from the shameful way they treated him and his family.

Greetings!

Last week was a whirlwind of activity. The first couple of days saw 23 young leaders from a Master's Commission school on Vancouver Island come through our doors. Another small team from the Victory churches in Ontario laboured in prayer all week long. A few days later leaders from various 24/7 Houses of Prayer gathered at our facility to encourage one another and seek the Lord.

This week we have welcomed young people who came to participate in the National Student Forum. Our own interns joined them in a couple of intensive days interacting with Christian leaders and M.P.s.
West Block
National Prayer Breakfast

Our NHOP team joined over 500 others this week in the West Block on Parliament Hill for the many events surrounding the Canadian National Prayer Breakfast.

This is what the organizers wrote about why they do this.
"The purpose of the National Prayer Breakfast is to invite leaders to meet in the spirit of Jesus Christ in order to pray together.

"At the heart of the National Prayer Breakfast is a small group of Parliamentarians from different political parties who meet for breakfast each Wednesday morning while Parliament is in session.  The annual National Prayer Breakfast is more visible but the weekly meetings are far more significant.  The weekly meetings provide opportunities for deeper friendships to flourish and grow.

"Through genuine friendships built on the Spirit of Jesus, it is hoped that individuals can discover ways of being together which cross many religious, social, and political boundaries in order to bless the lives of many."

We were very impressed with the clear testimonies that each M.P. and guest speaker shared.  The presence of the Lord was very strong.
