  • Dear friend,

We had an overflow class of motivated local folk at our opening class of the weekly NHOP School of Prayer. It's been gratifying to see the spiritual hunger of believers from the Ottawa area. They'll be learning key principles of intercession at our Tuesday night course, while others will be covering a basic overview of theology on Wednesday mornings.

Along the same lines, we are beginning to plan for a special week of training in mid June that we will open up to other intercessors from across Canada.

First Peoples' Reception on the Hill

We were so glad that our full NHOP team was invited to attend the inaugural reception organized by Gathering Nations Int'l this week on Parliament Hill. There was a moment of joy and amazement when our directors Rob and Fran Parker, danced arm in arm with the Speaker of the House, the Honourable Peter Milliken, as part of a large circle dance to the beat of an aboriginal drum.

A hundred other special guests made up the rest of the circle. Some of the dancers wore native regalia, since they represented Inuit, Metis and First Nations' groups. Others were M.P.'s, or their wives, national ministry leaders, local pastors and invited guests.

The circle dance was the fun part of this reception on Parliament Hill this past Thursday night. Earlier in the evening Kenny Blacksmith, the host, had shared the desire of these First Peoples to walk together with the government of Canada, and the Church in Canada. He read out the words of the "First People's Covenant" that had been signed in June 2006 on National Aboriginal Day. The evening closed with a blessing and encouragement from Elijah Harper.

Many intercessors across the land lifted this special event up in prayer. Thank you for praying! It was a huge success and a great sign of even better things to come.

We are expanding our general prayer base for the ministry and are inviting you to partner with us in prayer. Specifically we are looking for those who will commit to praying for NHOP for ten minutes per week in a consolidated block of time. General outlines and periodic updates will be provided. If you would like more information about this important opportunity to partner with us please contact us at: Terry@nhop.ca

    Prayer Points

    1. Praise God for the way He answered our prayers over the last week in regards to the private member's bill on the Kyoto Protocols. There were lots of twists and turns, but at least for now it seems we have avoided a snap election.

    2. Please pray for our military. In the last few days many new troops, from the Maritimes have been deployed to Afghanistan. Another large group have just returned to their families in Petawawa, Ont. In both cases there are major adjustments for the wives and children, as well as for the servicemen and women. Please pray for their emotional and spiritual health during their transition to the new state of affairs. We heard a report that 7 soldiers were led to the Lord this week by one of the padres.

    3. Have you prayed for your M.P. today? One member of Parliament recently told us that he works 80-90 hours a week and only had 3 weekends off with his wife during 2006. These folks need our support!

Special Week of Training: June 18-22

The details are beginning to come together. We have set aside the week of June 18-22, 2007 as an intensive training week for Canadian intercessors. Participants will be hosted at NHOP, as usual with 3 full meals a day and a warm bed to sleep in at night.

Along with teaching from gifted national prayer leaders, the week will feature time for activation, individual coaching, personal prayer ministry and practical application. Ottawa is a beautiful city at that time of year. Everything is in full bloom.

We encourage you to begin praying about the dates, and get them into your calendar. There is limited space for this important week of training and growth.

We consider it a privilege to send this newsletter out now to over 2300 subscribers each week. (We just thought you would want to know that you have joined an army of other intercessors who are praying together for Canada.)
