We are excited about the upcoming National Prayer
Gathering scheduled for January 13th, 2007 which
will have a special emphasis on standing
in prayer
for our troops in Afghanistan and their families. The
National House of Prayer believes clearly that one of
the
directions God is asking us to press into, is regular
prayer for our armed forces.
On January 13th. 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. along with the
Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) and
Intercessors for Canada, we are inviting
the church of Ottawa to gather at the steps of our
Parliament buildings for a one hour time of corporate
prayer.
There will be a special emphasis on praying for our
troops around the world.
Regardless of the
different views concerning
the mission in Afghanistan, we believe that our
troops and their families should be covered and
supported in prayer and need to see a positive
example of a caring church.
In spite of the short notice, this is something
that I feel people would respond to and could be
mobilized quickly to attend in your city/region as
well. Radio stations and newspaper may be willing to
advertise this event. I believe that we can expect
our spiritual authority to increase as we come
together nationally in response to God's call for us to
stand in the gap. This may be an opportunity for
God to move in the nation of Afghanistan through
the efforts of our military and the God-directed
prayers released by the Church in
Canada.
In preparation for Jan. 13th. and with the help of
the Military Christian Fellowship we will be able to
send out meaningful prayer directives from those who
have a better understanding of all the needs and
issues; both of those on active duty and of their
families back at home. We would be happy to send
these along to any of you who request
them.
If you feel that you would be interested in
initiating this for your city/region, may I suggest
that you would do this outside of your church
buildings at perhaps your City Hall, Provincial
Legislative Buildings, or city park and make it a multi-
congregational effort.
To stand together in prayer, please e-mail us at:
info@nhop.ca and please consider to whom else you
might
forward this e-mail.
Blessings,
Rob and Fran Parker,
Richard Long
