Dear friend,
As the summer hits full swing we want to encourage
you to stay alert in your prayers for our nation. Our
M.P.'s still need your prayers. In another week, we look forward to thousands of young people converging on the Hill for "The Cry 2". A week after that we host the "Heal the Land" team from Fiji as they come through Ottawa on their "Fire Tour." Then Rob will be heading to Jamaica to speak to a prayer conference and consulting with leaders there about setting up an effort to pray for their national government.
Last Saturday was a glorious, sunny day for our national holiday. Rob and Fran Parker, and Richard and Terry Long joined in the throngs of people who celebrated the event on Parliament Hill. Amidst the speeches and the concerts, we noted the strong presence of the security forces. Sharpshooters were positioned on nearby buildings, (we counted twelve) backpacks were checked by the RCMP, and bodyguards stayed close to the Prime Minister and the Governor General. All of these reminders of caution kept us in a state of prayer, and provoked us to be actively blessing and interceding for our leaders. A couple of ladies from Montreal, who had stayed with us at NHOP in order to pray, were able to get right up close during the walkabout by PM Stephen Harper and his family. They shook Mr. Harper's hand and told him that they were praying for him. He seemed genuinely grateful and personal in his thank you, they reported.
Michèle Cloutier has been working part-time as our
Administrator since January 2006. It's her voice that
you will probably hear first if you call our office. This
week we welcomed her to a full-time staff position at
NHOP. She will continue to be our administrator,
keeping all the rest of us on track and organized.
She worked for her church for 14 years, where she was very actively involved in many city-wide undertakings such as March for Jesus and the Pastors Prayer Fellowship. She most recently worked for Watchmen for the Nations, before coming to work at NHOP. Michèle is a missionary at heart and one of her greatest loves is China, which she has visited on several occasions. Not surprising that she was sitting immediately behind our director, Rob Parker, in March 2005 when American prophet Bobby Connor began speaking to him about ?China behind you? and a connection that would be made between NHOP and the Chinese. We are honoured that she has joined our staff in this important role.

Let's pray about the relationship between our two nations. Pray especially about the proposed new passport regulations which would adversely affect trade, tourism and social interaction, that the US Congress might rethink this legislation. 2. The leadership race for the Liberal party continues at BBQ's and picnics during July and August. Pray that a good and wise leader will emerge in their midst. There has also been talk this week among Liberals about streamlining and renewing their party. Let's pray for that process.
3. Let's pray for all the last minute details that
the organizing team for "The Cry 2" will have to deal
with over this last week. Pray for an anointed
administration of this event as it actually
unfolds.
You should have received a seperate email announcement about the prayer tour we are sponsoring this Fall. We are very pleased that Annie Elliott has agreed to lead this 17 day journey, which will include the Feast of Tabernacle celebrations and an international parade through the streets of Jerusalem. Do you know a young person who is ready for a unique challenge? We are looking for 8 young leaders who want to learn more about prayer and about government for three months this Fall. It will be an intensive training experience right on site at the National House of Prayer. All the details are on our website, including application information and a description of all that this experience will entail.
We've been using these last few days to call as many people as we know, to remind them about "The Cry 2" and to encourage them to urge their youth to attend. Could we encourage you to do the same?
