  • Dear friend,

In this edition of our prayer bulletin we focus on youth. We love to see young people arrive on our front steps. Last week we had 70 kids with us during the Spring Break. You'll read a little more about their experience below.

This week a 19 member from northern Alberta have included 7 teenagers on their team. If you are considering bringing a team to Ottawa, we would encourage you to think young!

When young leaders come to the National House of Prayer they arrive with hearts full of faith. Compound that by a full group of energetic faith- filled youth and anything is possible.

We've been challenged by the size of the prayers and the strength of their intensity. It hasn't been all that warm yet here in Ottawa. The cold did not dampen the 24 member team that was here last week from Abbotsford Christian Assembly. They prayer-walked to the Hill almost every day, and often did an extra expedition to some other location.

Our staff works and prays with each team to arrange their itinerary. We find that the Lord is really good at opening doors. The Abbotsford team not only saw an M.P., but they toured the Governor General's residence, visited the Supreme Court and took time to visit the War Museum. Beyond that they ministered in local churches, interacted with many other young people in the city and joined in with other teams that arrived. We even gave them a little time off to buy some souvenirs before heading back to the airport after their 12 day adventure.

Here's some comments from the young people.

"Coming to the NHOP really changed my life. The whole experience really taught me to pray for our nation and have faith that our prayers will change our nation."
    Chelsea -age 15

"I have become aware that we need to be a voice in this nation, and that I do have a voice. I now have a passion to see this nation bow to the name of Jesus and righteousness be restored." Tamara- age 20

"My stay at NHOP was absolutely amazing. It was a divine opportunity for me. I left with a serious impartation about prayer and intercession for others and my nation." Bryan - age 20

    Prayer Siege
    sitting in the seats

This past week 4 MY Canada helped facilitate a team of 70 young leaders on a Siege prayer week with the National House of Prayer. On Friday (St. Patrick's Day) the entire group had opportunity to meet with the Chair of the Conservative Caucus, Rahim Jaffer.

They were escorted by Mr. Jaffer's assistant to the House of Commons. To their amazement it was not just to gaze in upon the green cushioned seats from the public viewing area (which is the protocol for non- elected visitors), but he brought them right into the gallery of the House to sit in the M.P.'s seats, where the new natural government will take their place on April 3rd. He looked at them and said, "You are the first group to sit in these seats for this government's term. You are sitting here even before the new Conservative government has."

Faytene Kryskow (4 MY Canada Director) then addressed Mr. Jaffer and gave a concise statement regarding the moral stance of this group of young people on the issue of age of sexual consent, integrity in government and the traditional view of marriage (all of which are issues the government has promised to address in this term).

She said, "Mr. Jaffer we want you to know that we are here to stay and that we will support the government in every way possible as you stand for traditional moral values in our nation." Mr. Jaffer as the chair of the Conservative caucus explained to the group that anything that is shared with him goes directly to Prime Minister Harper. In effect the group was addressing the Prime Minister and the entire Caucus via Mr. Jaffer in that moment.

    Prayer Points

    1. "Rookie" M.P.'s that we have talked to, share how challenging it is for them to assimilate all that is going on. Often there is a toll on their families as the new position requires so much travelling. Let's pray especially for the many committed Christians who are new to the Hill and coming with the hope of making a real difference.

    2. The Liberal leadership race is now on. As of today there are 26 names being seriously suggested. During this time of rebuilding, let's pray that they use this season to find their way and emerge as a healthy opposition party. Pray that a leader with integrity and statemanship will arise in their midst.

    3. Pray for a spirit of cooperation for this 39th Parliament. Being a minority government means that the ruling party will need great wisdom to develop a consensus on each piece of legislation. Pray for PM Stephen Harper as he seeks to work together with other party leaders.

    4. Remember to pray for April 4th, the day that our Governor General will read the Throne Speech to open the new session of Parliament. Pray for the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) as they craft that important speech.

    Parkers

If you are thinking about bring a team from your city or region to NHOP, we do still have some slots open in April and May as Parliament resumes.

Representing you in our nation's capital.
