Volunteer at Farm Day on October 16th

 

The Dorchester Historical Society is hosting its annual Farm Day Open House at Clapp Farm on October 16th and is looking for some volunteers to help with the event. This great event includes exhibits, demos, pony rides, cider and donuts and it's all FREE!

Volunteer with the Irish Heritage Festival this Weekend!

 

 

The annual Irish Heritage Festival will be taking place this Sunday, October 9th in the historic Adams Street area. Organizers are looking for some extra hands to help set up and take down the event. This is a great way to meet some of the organizers and the groups participating in this great event!

Halloween at the Boston Police B3 - Volunteers Needed
 
The Boston Police B3 on 500 Morton Street needs volunteers for its annual Halloween Haunted House and Party on October 31st. Even if you can't volunteer your time, there are also opportunities for sponsors and donations of candy.

AARP Members: Help Children Learn to Read

AARP Massachusetts has partnered with local schools to bring in AARP Members to help children learn to read. By spending anywhere between 2 to 12 hours/week, you can help a child improve their reading skills by two or three levels! Training is provided and there are several options for volunteers to accommodate their schedules.

Friendly Greeters Needed at the Codman Square Tech Center!

The Codman Square Tech Center at 450 Washington is very busy this time of year with many of its community programs in full swing! Volunteer greeters are needed to be "social butterflies" from 9am - 2pm to receive incoming visitors, answer questions, and direct them to different people/services in the building. This is a great opportunity to cultivate customer service skills and expand your knowledge of community programs!

Passionate about Environmental Change? Volunteer with DEHC!
 
The Dorchester Environmental Health Coalition (DEHC) is looking for committed and passionate people to help with outreach and advocacy work in the community. If you care about environmental issues and improving the community, then this is the opportunity for you. Volunteers can decide on what hours work anywhere between 5 to 40 hours/week and there are plenty of way to use your skills to make a difference.

Volunteer with Professional Dancer Wyoma

   

 

Professional African Dancer Wyoma is looking for a volunteer to help her with administrative tasks and media management. If you're already interested in dance and holistic therapy, this is a great chance to work with someone who has a lifetime of experience.  

 

The commitment would be 4-5 hours per week at Wyoma's offices on Ashmont Street, located within walking distance of the Ashmont T station.

Internship with Viet-AID ESL Program

Viet-AID's Adult English Program for Excellence (AEPEX) is looking for a bright and motivated intern to to help design the program and work with 10-15 adults in Dorchester who want to study English.  

 

If you're interested in teaching and social justice, this is a great opportunity for you. Not only will you be helping adults in the community but you'll play a critical role in shaping the program for years to come.
