Dorchester Park Gala V
The popular Gala in the Park returns for its fifth installment on Friday, and Dot Park events continue all weekend. All events happen in Dorchester Park and all proceeds benefit DPA's endowment fund to preserve and improve the Park.Friday evening's Gala features cocktails and background music by Soul City Band, an excellent dinner by Gourmet Caterers, an auction of wonderful items, and dancing.
Come back Saturday morning for a family pancake breakfast in the Park. Saturday evening, there will be a Pops-style concert with the Dorchester Symphony Orchestra, featuring the Boston City Singers, also under the big tent. Move the Planet with DEHC DotBike and the Dorchester Environmental Health Coalition (DEHC) will be leading a group biking from Peabody Square, Dorchester to downtown Boston to join in the giant Moving Planet rally (http://moving-newengland.org/). DEHC and DotBike need artists to help make banners, signs, t-shirts, etc. to display during the Moving Planet event - an art party will be held Thurs., September 22nd at 450 Washington Street. CHAMPS Boston All-Girls Celebration CHAMPS Boston will be hosting an "All Girls Celebration of CHAMPS" which will include physical activity classes(hip hop dance, step, zumba, etc.), healthy cooking demonstrations and a coaches clinic for the adult coached/youth workers/chaperones who work with young girls.
This event will be tied into a "back to school" campaign where every girl will receive backpacks and other school supplies. All participants will also be automatically entered to win other prizes such as an opportunity to participate in the Million Hour Challenge as well as an opportunity for a meet and greet with Boston Celtic's own Paul Pierce during his private event. Missile Gap Forum & CIA Preview

 Preceding the Kennedy Library Forum on the 50th Anniversary of the Missile Gap Controversy, there will be a special CIA-sponsored conference. In September 1961, President Kennedy was officially notified by the CIA that the United States had surpassed the Soviet Union in missiles, dispelling the notion of Soviet superiority in the arms race.
