Bowdoin Geneva farmers market logoFresh produce, children's activities and more, at the Bowdoin Street Health Center, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. This event launches the 2011 Bowdoin Geneva Farmers' Market, happening every Thursday from now until October.  The kickoff event will include free samples, games, music, face painting, and prizes! Join in for an afternoon of fun, family and fresh fruits and vegetables!

Ashmont Farmers' Market Opens Today

Ashmont farmers market logoReturning for its third season on Friday, July 8, at the Ashmont Station Plaza. The island sounds of Pan United Steel Orchestra will welcome the market, which runs every Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. through mid-October and features the fresh and local produce of Massachusetts farmers. Also available: fresh flowers, plants, and other gardening items from Cedar Grove Gardens; Dot2Dot Café baked goods; and Dorchester Arts Collaborative art. The market accepts SNAP/Food Stamp benefits, WIC, and Senior Nutrition coupons. Also, SNAP shoppers can get up to $20 worth of produce at half price through the Boston Bounty Bucks program.

Ladies First Art Exhibit

Ladies FirstCome to the Hancok 309 Gallery on July 8 for an exhibit highlighting young female artists nationwide. From installation to sculpture, jewelry to photos, art of many disciplines will be represented. All are welcome to come and be inspired by the talents of many creative young women.

CanoeThe Neponset River Greenway Festival is in full session June 26 to September 3! This Sunday, paddle canoes down the river and then hop the trolley back to discover the rich history of the area. Registration required. All Greenway Festival events are FREE.

Tornado Relief Fundraiser @ Ledge    

Ledge Kitchen Tornado FundraiserLedge Kitchen and Drinks (2261 Dorchester Avenue, Lower Mills) is hosting a tornado relief fundraiser for Saint Patrick's Parish, Monson and Springfield. Come to support the victims of tornados and have some fun while you're at it. Great activities and delicious food will be available. Admission is $30/person.

Emergency Homeowners' Loan Program (Nuestra)

BNAN

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has launched the Emergency Homeowners' Loan Program (EHLP). Mortgage relief from this program covers past-due and future payments. Nuestra CDC is working to assist local homeowners through the EHLP process. The deadline to apply is July 22, 2011. Individuals may be eligible to receive $50,000 in mortgage assistance for up to 24 months.

Produce to Pantries Seeks Volunteers

BNAN

BNAN is looking for volunteers to help out on Tuesday and Friday mornings with both delivering produce from farms to pantries and sorting/distributing produce at the pantries themselves. Youth Sports Night

Youth Sports NightInterested in tennis? How about basketball? Maybe double dutch? You can do it all at Franklin Park's Drop-in Youth Sports Nights! This program will run every Thursday from July 8 to August 12 and provide sports equipment for all kinds of activities.
