SCI Dorchester is collaborating with Close to Home on a campaign on getting to know your neighbors, an easy task that seems to be forgotten in our busy everyday lives. Knowing your neighbors better is just one way to prevent violence in our homes and on our streets. The campaign launch will feature delicious food provided by the Blarney Stone, talking, laughing and live music by The Whammy Bars. We encourage everyone from the community to celebrate bringing Dorchester together this Thursday evening! The event is for all ages and free of charge.

Dorchester Flashback
|
Dorchester Illustration of the Day no. 1490
Today we see a vintage photo of the Tucker House on Washington Street near Four Corners. It looks as though the house was at 272 Washington Street about opposite the end of Vassar Street.
Although many of the older houses were no larger than later Victorian houses, the siting was impressive. The placement on land that is higher than the street and placement back from the road allowed the viewer to stand back to admire its appearance. No street signage, poles or traffic helped as well.
