Dorchester Flashback

Dorchester Historical Society Image of the Week

Dorchester Illustration of the Day no. 1488

One of Isaac Field's houses was located at Four Corners.

Isaac is the patriarch of the family for whom Fields Corner is named.  For a time he lived on Washington Street.  Isaac owned another house that stood where the O'Hearn Storage Building is located today.  Isaac's house was moved to the back of the property to allow the construction of the Storage Building.  Fields Corner is named for the six families by the name of Field who lived and worked near the intersection-Isaac operated a large currying shop there employing over 40 workmen.
