February's Business of The Month, Hancock 309!
| |
When Hancock 309 opened its doors on July 2nd, 2010, Valerie Owens knew what she wanted: to get away from the "same old same old," to "put the power back into the artists' hands" and give local makers a chance to be seen and heard. And she's doing just that: this month, artist Larry Pierce will show his eclectic collection "Journey", the Actors Refuge Repertory Theater and New African Company will perform during a special "Love With a Cause" Valentine's Day Show and a "Third Thursday" reception will benefit Fields Corner Main Street.
For its local charm, incredible art shows, and commitment to community, MyDorchester.org names Hancock 309 our February 2011 Business of the Month!

Dorchester Flashback

Dorchester Illustration of the Day no. 1482
Sticking with Lower Mills, today we see the building once used as a school house on land where the Stoughton School building is today (now converted to residential units). The building in the picture was bought by the neighboring property owner and moved to where the Stop & Shop is today. Presumably this picture shows the building after the move
