| Congratulations Doreen Treacy and the FHVS program!! | |

Congratulations to Doreen Treacy, Director of the DotWell CivicHealth Institute, who was selected as one of Root Cause's 2011 Social Innovators for our Fiscal Health Vital Signs program! Fiscal Health Vital Signs (FHVS) is a tool developed and used by DotWell to "diagnose" an individual's fiscal health, including DotWell's free tax preparation and asset-building services. This tool was assembled from extensive experience training, coaching, and developing effective financial interventions for low to moderate income households. DotWell is honored to have received this recognition and is eager to continue providing financial health services to the community. Way to go Doreen and this will be a fabulous year to come!

Dorchester Flashback |
Dorchester Illustration of the Day no. 1448 A note on the photo says that Mr. Dunmore drove the stage coach from Lower Mills to Boston at a cost of 37 ½ cents each way. This must have been later than 1850 because the 1850 Dorchester & Milton business directory says that an omnibus ride from Meeting House Hill to Boston would cost only 12 ½ cents. The history of the First Methodist Church p. 42 mentions that the house stood on the site where the Forbes Mill was later built. "On the site of the Forbes Mill stood the Dunmore Estate,--the Dunmore house and stable of Charles and Archibald Dunmore, who ran the stage to Boston." The Forbes Mill is the second building from the river on the Dorchester side of the Neponset.
