Dorchester Illustration of the Week
This week's illustration is a photo of the firing of the Dorchester Pottery kiln.
"The Dorchester Pottery Works was located on Victory Road between the railroad overpass and Morrissey Boulevard. If you know the CVS store on Morrissey Boulevard, you can locate the Dorchester Pottery building behind it in the parking lot. The brick left half of the building with the 22-foot diameter kiln still stands. The wooden right side of the building has been replaced and is now used as a daycare center."
The Illustration of the Day is sent out via email by Earl Taylor of the Dorchester Historical Society. If you would like to get these daily images, please visit this site and join the group. Questions? call 781-272-6700. |
