Dorchester Flashback
Dorchester FlashbackDorchester Illustration of the Week
Today's illustration is a postcard of the Robinson School by J.V. Hartman. It is  currently the only photo of the Robinson School in the possession of the Dorchester Historical Society.

"The school was located just north of Field's Corner on Robinson Street backing up to Ronan Park. The school first appears in the 1898 atlas with the name Robinson Street School. When the 1904 atlas was issued, the school had the name Benjamin J. Cushing School. Does anyone know when it was torn down?"

The Illustration of the Day is brought to us by the Dorchester Atheneum, if you would like to be added to the list, please contact Earl Taylor by email or call 781-272-6700.

SCI Dorchester, Sights Set on Holidays
Moving into the Holiday season of giving, SCI Dorchester hopes to help provide 1300 gifts to local children and families of the two DotWell Health Centers.  In addition, SCI continues to raise awareness in the community of Flu Clinics--to keep everyone healthy during this season--and holiday community events--to encourage and expand the social capital of Dorchester residents. In order to do all these things, we need your help! Continue to check out our volunteer opportunities and the other ways you can get involved featured on MyDorchester.org, always working towards making "My Dorchester" our Dorchester.

SCI Dorchester's mission is to strengthen the Dorchester community by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives. We envision a community where individuals are strongly connected to their neighbors and play an active role in shaping the destiny of our community. This increase in 'social capital' will result in a community that is safer, healthier and more vital. For more information click here.

The mission of DotWell is to work in collaboration with our founding health center partners - Codman Square Health Center and Dorchester House Multi-Service Center - to provide integrated clinical and community services that address health disparities, build social capital, and meet the complex needs of our communities.
