Clapp Family Farm
The historic houses, Lemuel Clap House (1765) and the William Clapp House (1806), on Boston Street are house museums showing the domestic side of nineteenth-century life.

On this special day, we will open up a historic carriage house and barn still standing from their agricultural past.

Join in this great free tour of these historic buildings.

Dorchester Flashback
Dorchester Illustration of the WeekDorchester Illustration of the Week
Today's illustration is a postcard of Old Stoughton St. Burial Ground by J.V. Hartman.

"Hartman's view of the burial ground at Upham's Corner shows quite clearly how sky portion of the picture was masked out. The partial circle of bright spots is the result of the cancellation on the other side of the card, but the date cannot be read. Circa 1910."

The Illustration of the Day is brought to us by the Dorchester Atheneum, if you would like to be added to the list, please contact Earl Taylor by email or call 781-272-6700.

SCI Dorchester Joins Statewide AmeriCorps Members
The SCI Dorchester Team participated in the yearly Mass-Service/AmeriCorps Kick Off in Roxbury this past Friday. Joining with the rest of the SCI Team and over 1,000 AmeriCorps Members Statewide, our Dorchester Team was reminded of the importance of service and civic engagement in our current economic climate. Complete with dance and spoken word performances, the ceremony exposed both the wonderful diversity of the AmeriCorps Program while highlighting its broad impact across the State.

We hope that this eBlast, along with MyDorchester.org will be useful resources for you as you interact with our Dorchester Community. Please let us know if you have recommendations or insight to how we may better serve you.

SCI Dorchester's mission is to strengthen the Dorchester community by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives. We envision a community where individuals are strongly connected to their neighbors and play an active role in shaping the destiny of our community. This increase in 'social capital' will result in a community that is safer, healthier and more vital. For more information click here.

The mission of DotWell is to work in collaboration with our founding health center partners - Codman Square Health Center and Dorchester House Multi-Service Center - to provide integrated clinical and community services that address health disparities, build social capital, and meet the complex needs of our communities.
