mission of the IIT - Jules F. Knapp Entrepreneurship Center is to be Chicago's Leading
Professional Support Services Center for Entrepreneurs by providing effective,
affordable, and expert resources to help create and grow successful commercial
ventures. IIT-KEC is a collaborative community of supporters of
entrepreneurial ventures.

Crop to Cup Receives CCV Challenge Grant
Crop to Cup has received a Challenge Grant from
Chicago Community Ventures.Through CCV's partnership with the Illinois
Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Governor Rod
Blagojevich's Opportunity Returns Program, CCV provides small,
high-growth businesses with matching grants to help them achieve their
goals. Crop to Cup, along with nine other companies, has recently
received this grant because it exhibits a strong growth potential.

Two IIT-Jules F. Knapp Entrepreneurship Center Clients Receive CEC/DCEO Entrepreneur in Residence Awards
The Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center and the
Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO)
recently announced that Salare Security and Sarmas Group, both
supported by Illinois Institute of Technology's (IIT) Jules F. Knapp
Entrepreneurship Center, are the recipients of two $80,000 Entrepreneur
in Residence awards.

eMotion Wins Top Prize at Northwestern Idol Competition
IIT-Jules F. Knapp Entrepreneurship Center
client eMotion won first place at the Northwestern Idol competition
on November 15, 2008. The prize, given through the iventures10
program, is valued at $25,000. Founders Avelo Roy and Ed Suda also took
home the $1,500 audience's favorite award.

Connectiviity Holiday Party
Join the IIT-Knapp Entrepreneurship
Center on Wednesday, December 17th as we honor Bob Geras for his
service to our community. In addition to serving on our Board, Bob is
our "Angel-in-Residence" and has also agreed to organize and head up
our new Angel Network. THANK YOU BOB!
Known as the "Godfather" of Chicago area technology investors, Bob
Geras has founded, operated, mentored or funded hundreds of successful
companies during his distinguished career. In 2002, Bob was given the
"City Lights Angel of the Year" award by the Chicago Software
Association in recognition of "many years of exceptional service in
fostering and encouraging entrepreneurship in Chicago's technology
community." In 2004, the Illinois Venture Capital Association presented
Bob the Fellows Award for "extraordinary leadership in early stage
venture
funding." In addition, on March 1, 2006 Bob was inducted into the
Chicago
Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.
President and owner of LaSalle Investments since
1978, Bob Geras is a Founding Director of the Illinois Venture Capital
Association and is involved with a number of venture funds, such as K-B
Partners, Dunrath Capital, Ceres Venture Fund, and the Illinois Innovation
Accelerator Fund.
Connectiviity has brought together the entrepreneurship
community both within IIT and the greater Chicagoland area
throughout 2008. We will be celebrating the close of a successful year with live music and festive food and
cocktails.
