We all had a great time with Suzy West.  She is such a dynamic teacher that we can't wait to have her come back next year.

I know it seems early but I'm sure you have heard about Christmas in July.  It's that time of year when stampers start making their Christmas cards.  This new Inky Antics Board should spark a lot of creativity.

In this class we'll work through advanced coloring techniques: hair, skin tones, backgrounds, casting shadows on objects and adding other coloring mediums for enhanced detail (ie. colored pencil, white gel pen, watercolor pencil). This class is jam-packed, a bit fast paced and advanced. You will need to bring your own markers and a white gel pen (Uniball Signo White is recommended). We will provide hair and skin tone copic number combinations for you to choose from and bring or purchase from the store. In class, you will complete a tech sheet covering all the techniques.  Fee $22

Copic 104: Properties of Light and Shadow
with Lisa Hetrick - the only Intermediate Level Copic Certified person in Maryland
Want to take your color work to the next level?
In this advanced class, you will learn how to color more realistically. We will spend the entire class working through and planning your light source.  Since this is an advanced class, Copic experience is required.
It is recommended that you have taken at least the Copic 101 class before attending this one.

Prepared to be challenged as we discuss and practice how to get beyond the diffused world of light and learn the properties of light and shadow.
You will create a "light study" and focus practice using a linear light source (the sun) coloring and image with highlight and shadow.
Linear (sun), Radial (candle) and Single point (spotlight) clear guides will be provided in class as a tool for the "light study."
We will cover Radial and Single point light, but you will only color using the Linear guide.

Please be sure to bring colors that can be used as highlight, midtone and shadow. We will be breaking the "natural blending family" rule when selecting color.

Highlight Copic colors end in 0-3
Midtone Copic colors end in 4-6
Shadow Copic colors end in 7-9

Students will be coloring this image.   Please click on the flyer and print it out.  It will give you all the copic colors that were used in the sunflower image. Those colors are recommended but not required. However, students need to bring markers that are similar.
$25

Scrapbooking 102
It's all about the embellishments. After Gina helps you pick out the papers and some embellishments to use,  you will make 2 pages using photos you bring, Gina will teach you how to use ribbon, fibers, tearing, brads, tags, inking stamping, buttons, chipboard, distressing techniques and flowers. (You will not be making this layout. You will be creating a layout using papers you and Gina pick out.  This layout just shows some of the techniques you will learn.)

I put these cards in the store over a week ago but completely forgot to blog about them. Ooops! I had a lot of fun playing with the We R Memory Keepers Travel Light line and a motorcycle stamp from Hero Arts again. I used a layout very similar to what I did for Demo Day but added a few more layers to mat my main image. The plaid paper was cut with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Ornamental die. Love that plaid paper! And the border with the interstate signs...that came off the edge of the plaid paper. I cut around the signs which worked perfectly to give me a scalloped edge on my card. Vrooom vrooom!

My next card has no stamping on it at all. I used the map paper from Travel Light which included the main retro image that I used as the focal point on my card. A super simple layout made this card lightning quick. I think it took 5 minutes at the most to put it together and I think it came out super cute. I find this card to be very fitting right now as we are leaving on a road trip to FL this week. It's Disney or bust!  Cindy
