 We had a wonderful weekend of crops with over 40 women joining us at one time or another.   Don't be too sad if you missed the crops.  We have crops every Friday and Saturday night from 6 to midnight.

We have 4 new cards this week along with 3 cards from last week.  We have three new Tina creations and a lovely one from Cindy.  Just in time for Mother's Day.  Just $2 each.

So remember, I recently mentioned that Lisa Hetrick is now the Creative Director for Avocado Arts, a new stamp company.  They are a fun new company and Lisa is designing all the stamps.  If you have visited their site, you may have noticed that they are starting out selling dircectly to the customers.   They can not be found in stores except for Photo Scraps!   The first order shipped out today.  I can't wait to get them.  You can follow them on Facebook Here or you can go to their main website.

We couldn't just sell Lisa's new stamps, so of course, she built a special class around the new stamps.
Thursday May 26th 6-8 PM
Lisa Hetrick will be teaching a combination Avocado Arts and technique class.  Everyone in the class will be getting their own stamp set to use while making these fun projects.  There will be 5 projects in all.  If you prepay for the class, you may get your stamp set as soon as they come in.  Fee $27

It's time for a Scrapbook Yard Sale!  If you have scrapbooking & paper crafting "overstock" that you'd like to sell, then this is the event for you! 
You may sell any scrapbook, rubber stamp, storage containers, stickers, inks  & even handmade creations. 

 
Here are the details:
Cost to participate is $15 per table inside the store.   Each customer is responsible for setting up and working their own table. Set up starts at 11 AM.  
All customer yard sale purchases must be made using Scraps Cash (store credit).
 
  Scraps Cash is not redeemable for actual cash but can be used for purchases at Photo Scraps.
 We will have the Scraps Cash available for purchase starting May 9th.
 
This is a great way to clear out your stash of things you haven't used in a bit & in turn get credit to buy the latest & greatest supplies to start fresh!

Remember - Advance
registration and payment is required for all classes 
and crops.  If we do not know you are coming to class,  we will not be prepared for you.   Our class sizes are limited and do sell out so be sure to call us as soon as you know you want to sign up for a class.  Some classes are available as kits,  just ask our staff.  You should always bring your basic tool kit (Adhesive, Scissors & Trimmer) to classes.  Refunds will be given with 24 hours advance notice of cancelation. 
 
The only events on our calendar that are Drop-in events are our two Demo Days, Creative Cafe Days and Wacky Wednesday Stamp Camp.

Scrapping 101 with Gina
Do you want to get started scrapbooking but don't know where or how to start? Are you overwhelmed by all the choices when you come in to shop? Do you have boxes of photos under the bed and don't know what to do next? Then this is the class for you!
Gina will teach you all you need to know to make your first scrapbook pages. You will learn how to use tools, pick colors and how to adhere your photos safely.  Please bring 4-8 photos and you will complete your first page in class.  Fee $12

 Copic 101 with Lisa Hetrick
The class will cover practicing the 1,2,3,1 technique on the stamped images that you will build the cards with & demystifying the number coloring system and practicing the techniques. Fee $22 (if you bring your own Copics) or $39 and you get to pick 3 Copic markers. 

 

Saturday May 14th 1-3 PM

Copic 102

The class will include how to: 1. Shadows and Light Source. How to shade with the light source in mind.2. Colorless Blender Technique. How to fade to white and marker to blender pen pushing. 3. Blending Solution Techniques. Using the colorless blending solution to create texture (and a surprise technique Fee $22 (if you bring your own Copic blender pen) or $28.49 including the blender pen.  Please bring your own labeled Copics if you have them. 

 

Saturday May 14th 3-5 PM

Copic 103

 In this class we'll work through advanced coloring techniques: hair, skin tones, backgrounds, casting shadows on objects and adding other coloring mediums for enhanced detail (ie. colored pencil, white gel pen, watercolor pencil). This class is jam-packed, a bit fast paced and advanced. You will need to bring your own markers and a white gel pen (Uniball Signo White is recommended). We will provide hair and skin tone copic number combinations for you to choose from and bring or purchase from the store. In class, you will complete a tech sheet covering all the techniques.  Fee $22

It's all about the embellishments. After Gina helps you pick out the papers and some embellishments to use,  you will make 2 pages using photos you bring, Gina will teach you how to use ribbon, fibers, tearing, brads, tags, inking stamping, buttons, chipboard, distressing techniques and flowers.

 6x6 Mini Album

Woohoo, I am on a roll now! Second blog posting ever!! I have to say I had sooooo much fun making this mini album. I really had a hard time choosing the card stock, I wanted to use it all! I ended up using Hometown Summer - Heat Wave, Green Acres and Summer Fun and Cosmo Cricket Coral Bloom. For embellishments I used Lovely Bits Butterflies and Doilies, my Cricuit Machine (for the words, baskets, tag mats and the interactive tag that can hold lots more pictures) lots of paper flowers and, the flower border punch, its a Martha... I just loved the bright bold colors. I am always looking to be able to put the most pictures in a small space... At least one pocket is a must for me in a mini album and I did manage one early in the album. I filled the pocket with tags cut large enough for pictures and room to journal on the back. Loved the green paper and thought it a perfect backdrop for flowers, lots of them! I cut out the baskets on the Cricuit machine, a little ink and gel pen and they were ready to be filled with flowers embellished with pearl bling! Family fun which was the theme for this album. I cut out tags, scored them at the top so they would bend and made a little album with in the album! Quite a feat when you are only starting with a 6x6 to begin with. If you had a chance to view this in the store, you got to see the silly side of the Dinsmore's as we barely survived our encounter with the plastic alligator ... Lots of smiles on the next page and I went whimsical with the letter placement. Straight lines don't work well for me... I love to cut out patterns from card stock to use for embellishments, and the watermelons punch perfectly! To keep the watermelons from getting crushed - I also punched a piece of chip board (or was it a cereal box?) and then attached the punched out watermelon to it. I did the same thing for the front cover.


 

I saw lots of people taking pictures, of the album. If you recreate this album it I would love to see it. I am always in awe when someone takes my basic design and makes it their own. Keep creating! Tina

One nice feature of the new site is the Event Calendar.   It lists each class and event in date order.  There is a photo of the event, important details about your classes and you can even register and pay with PayPal online!  Check out the photos in the Photo Gallery.   

 

I've been working hard to create an interactive website for all our customers to get together online, chat, post layouts, get store & class information, videos and downloads.   The first thing you need to do is register for the site.  It's free.  Then, you will be able to introduce yourself in the forum and post layouts in the gallery.  Please read the Getting Started information in the Forum.  I will still be using this blog so don't worry if you do not want to participate in the new website.  http://photoscraps.spruz.com/

YOUNG SCRAPPER'S BIRTHDAY OR SCOUT TROOP PACKAGE:

Exclusive use of our crop tables for 2 hours
Materials (adhesives, papers, embellishments, etc) provided for one mini-album or scrapbook page per child
Consultation on project in order to individualize the album for the party
Sales Associate will be on hand to guide the project with the party and provide guidance as needed
Theme to be selected by the birthday child or troop leader.

$10.00- $20.00 per child (depending on complexity of project)

BRIDAL SHOWERS
 
We would be happy to work up a special crop party for your bridal shower.  You can choose to all create scrapbook pages for the bride to use in her wedding album or a card making party to create invitaions or even thank you notes for the bride.  Prices will be customized for each party and whether or not you would like us to provide food and beverages.
