A Series of Seafaring Tales with David Grant
A part of the Waterman Lecture Series This season's Waterman Lecture Series will begin on Thursday, September 16th with a series of gallery conversations with David Grant as he tells the tales of some of the world's greatest seafaring adventures. These conversations will take place here at the Museum in the Richard and Betty Steele Model Pavilion. As with all lectures, admission is free for members, $10 for non-members and $5 for students with valid student ID. Seating for these evenings is limited and is available on a first come, first serve basis so make your reservations early. Come early and enjoy one of our courtyard restaurants or attractions!

Music by the Bay: An Evening at the Museum
Join us on Friday, September 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for the first in a series of evenings of wine and cheese, music and friends! This series of evenings will feature a variety of types of live music to enjoy in our outdoor courtyard while allowing you to experience our picturesque cultural setting on the bay. Galleries and restaurants will also be open for all to enjoy. Come early and enjoy one of the Museum courtyard restaurants or attractions! Shipmates Reunite
The Newport Harbor Nautical Museum's dedicated group of volunteers, the Shipmates, met Tuesday August 12th in the Steele Model Pavilion. They were introduced to Lead Gallery Attendant and coordinator of our volunteer effort, Lauren Nichols, who gave a slide show presentation on current opportunities available for volunteers. The Shipmates will be meeting on a regular basis for updates on ways to get involved and help support the Museum. Upcoming dates and times will be announced. Art Gallery SOCALPAPA Opens New Exhibition  Art Gallery SOCALPAPA will be presenting a new exhibition called "California Impressionism, Then and Now" which opened on August 11, 2010 and runs through September 13, 2010. This new exhibition will feature paintings of locations favored by early California Impressionists that have been re-visited and re-captured by contemporary SOCALPAPA Plein Air Artists. The gallery is located on the boardwalk at 600 East Bay Avenue in Newport Beach, just below the Museum. SAVE THE DATE Nick Scandone: Extraordinary People Exhibit

Please join us Tuesday, October 19th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
for the grand opening reception of the Museum's newest exhibit "Extraordinary People" featuring the late Nick Scandone, a local hero and Paralympic gold medalist in sailing. Guest speakers will include Gary Jobson, President of U.S. Sailing who will be joined onstage by past, present and future sailing Olympians and Paralympians.
