Hoop it up, Colts!

Kelly Mill Colts can now shoot and score during recess! The Kelly Mill PTA purchased two 54" portable basketball hoops to be used on the blacktop.

We are grateful to Michal Tanksley (left), Georgia East Area Manager, and Jason Bryant (right), Regional Operations Manager for Assemblers Incorporated. They came to Kelly Mill to assemble the hoops. Assemblers Incorporated is a national company dedicated to making sure things are assembled properly, and we appreciate them donating their time to put together our hoops!

Assistant Principal June Tribble was on hand to thank the assemblers for donating their time and expertise in making sure the hoops were put together properly for our students' safety.

On your mark, get set, RUN!
The Boosterthon Fun Run is coming to Kelly Mill Elementary. This program is a healthy alternative to traditional product sales that will help us raise the funds needed for playground equipment.

The nine day program also promotes three specific values: Fitness, Leadership, and Character.

The event will kick off with a 30-minute school-wide Pep Rally on September 12, and conclude on September 21st with the Boosterthon Fun Run.

This year's character theme is "Highway USA" -- and it's all about making good CHOICES!  Our students will be building character by learning five important choices to make in their daily lives:  Choose Leadership, Choose Character, Choose Learning, Choose Fitness and Choose a Good Attitude.  During the week leading up to the run, students garner pledges toward the number of laps they will run at the Boosterthon Fun Run. Students will run between 25 - 35 laps (35 is the lap cap).

Every student participates in the Fun Run, regardless of pledges raised, and receives a "Boosterthon All-star" t-shirt.  Put it on your calendar and plan to participate!

Fundrai$ing update$

Thanks to everyone trying to earn some extra money for KME!

We made $240.51 from Moe's spirit night on August 14th. Moe's mentioned that customers were forgetting to leave their receipts in the bucket to be tallied for our total, otherwise we might have received more cash. Moe's is allowing us to bring a decorated, highly visible receipt bucket that will be sure to attract parents' attention at the next spirit night (September 11th).

The August 24th Barnes & Noble Book Drive was a big success!  Kelly Mill will receive, at the very least, a $650 gift card to spend on books, movies, cd's or e-readers!  We will not know the total impact until the Book Drive ends on Aug. 30th via online purchases.  A big THANK YOU to the parents who came out to support us and our three volunteers: Laura Martinez, Dana Lancaster, and Mrs. Walden.

Mrs. Molter's class is the big winner of the Barnes & Noble cookie party for having the most students in attendance!

Reflections due September 17!

It's time to get in touch with your inner artists or author! Reflections is a national PTA arts program encouraging students to explore their creativity. Students submit entries in one or more of six areas: (click for official rules to each category)

Entries are judged at the school level with the opportunity to move to the county, state and even national level of competition! This year's theme is:
