Department Forges Relationship with China's Oldest Psychiatric Hospital

Yale's Department of Psychiatry recently played host to a delegation from Guangzhou Medical University and Guangzhou Psychiatric Hospital, the oldest hospital in China specializing in psychiatry.
The delegation's visit follows a 2010 trip to Guangzhou by Yale psychiatry chair Dr. John Krystal and current fourth-year psychiatry resident Dr. Ke Xu to explore areas of potential collaboration between the institutions. Read more

Study Suggests Peer Mentors May Reduce Recurrent Psychiatric Hospitalizations
 A study by Yale Psychiatry researchers William Sledge, Martha Lawless, David Sells, Melissa Wieland, Maria O'Connell, and Larry Davidson published in last month's Psychiatric Services, examines the feasibility and effectiveness of using peer support to reduce recurrent psychiatric hospitalizations. New Behavioral Health Services Director Named
Dr. Hochang B. "Ben" Lee, a national expert on neuropsychiatric complications of cardiovascular disease, geriatric psychiatry and Alzheimer's disease, has been named director of behavioral health services at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Read more

Stanley Possick, MD Receives National Teaching Award
The American Psychoanalytic Association honored Yale Psychiatry's Dr. Stanley Possick with its Edith Sabshin Teaching Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions as an educator of students who are not members of the psychoanalytic profession. Read more

The New Haven Health & Science Career Fair had a new participant this year - Yale's Department of Psychiatry. The Department's table, featuring brains, medical equipment, and interactive computer games, was visited by many of the eight hundred students in attendance. Read more
