Schedule Your Wellness Checks |

by Cathy Simms
As I look back on January, it's been a month of "Wellness Checks" for me. I've made several trips to various doctors to have my physical body checked out. Today's visit took me to the dermatologist where I signed up for a "Free Cancer Screening." It was quite fascinating listening to the doctor describe various areas of my body as I was checked out.
As I think about my "Wellness Checks," I'm reminded how important it is to take care of my "Spiritual Checks" as well. In this new year, how is my spiritual health? Am I making time to read the Bible, study, and pray? Am I spending time with other believers who can help me with those Spiritual Checks, alerting me to something that may be out of line? It is when our body is in tune both physically and spiritually that God is able to use us fully to minister to others. If you haven't scheduled that "Wellness Check" yet, you might want to do it today.....after you've spent time with your Creator.
Cathy works full time at the Wooster Grace Brethren church as an administrative assistant to the Women's and Children's Director. She is also the Little Sisters coordinator and loves working with the girls every Wednesday. She also serves on the board of Women of Grace USA. |

Soul Care in Leadership
The response was overwhelmingly positive to the Soul Care in Leadership (Women's Leadership Studies) class in Long Beach, California February 3-4. Students came away with an understanding of what soul care is and some methods of soul care that help individuals to look for what God is doing in and through their pain. Using scripture, each participant developed a personal theology of suffering/pain and how God uses it in spiritual formation. Stay tuned for dates and locations of future Women's Leadership Studies classes. |

Helping grow women
We all know that our early experiences in life set the stage for much of how we think and act throughout life. As women, we are clearly called to invest in those younger than us. And high on our list should be our girls, who much sooner than we would like will face the challenges of choosing right from wrong, pursuing God over the world's distractions.
Next year marks the 100th birthday of girls' ministries in the Brethren church. As a part of the celebration, we want to offer some special events to honor and inspire women who work with girls. If each person reading this donates $10, we can provide this special opportunity for 300 leaders. Imagine the encouragement this would be for the leaders and the girls!
