LISA PRESIDENT'S RETREAT |
Unless there is a change to the LISA constitution at this year's AGM in May, the 5-3-1 transfer rule will revert to the previous 3 transfers per team rule.
On January 7, 2012 8 of the 10 club presidents and as well as LISA board members met to consider options for dealing with transfers and boundaries. This has been a source of concern and discussion for many years.
The fundamental problem is that registration is down 30% over the past few years and continues to fall. When players can't find an appropriate team at their home club and there is no transfer room on another club team, often the response is to leave youth soccer.
There was general agreement that the 5-3-1 rule has not worked well and should not be extended, but what are the options? The presidents came up with 8 options to take back to their clubs and will get together again in February to decide what is the right balance.
The options ranged from doing nothing and allowing the 3 transfer rule to automatically go back into effect, to several different approaches making it easier for players to play where they want to, such as increasing transfers to 5, among others.

Gulu Girls Football Team |
In October 2011, Peninsula Soccer Association was approached by Judy Byron, Incoming Governor (District 5020), Rotary International, about donating anything soccer, for a trip she was taking to Ethiopia and Uganda. Ms. Byron was accompanied by her granddaughter, Cassandra, a graduated Peninsula Association youth player.
Peninsula Soccer Association was pleased to be able to donate 150 retired jerseys and 50 retired shorts. The uniforms were donated to two schools, one in Ethiopia and the other to the Gulu Public Girls School in Uganda.
Traditionally, girls do not play team sports in Ethiopia. The Peninsula uniforms are the first step in this process.
The uniforms were presented to Mr. Siong NG (associated with the Gulu Public Girls School Football team) and some were immediately put to use in the Championship game against the Kasubi Primary School.

Mr. Siong NG writes: The girls "LOVE" their new uniforms and got many good compliments from the crowd. They got the championship trophy. Most of them will go on to play at their new teams with their secondary schools...with football scholarships. THANKS to you and Rotary International. |
