Hello,
This eNewsletter is currently sent to all of our coaches and managers but this issue has a lot of good information and even surveys for parents of the game. Please forward to any and all individuals that might like to sign-up for the newsletter. Tim Satterford LISA President |
Zero Tolerance Policy |
We want to draw your attention to some policies in place with Lower Island Soccer Association.
Parents and coaches can be called to discipline. In addition to any penalties handed out by the Discipline Committee, parents and coaches will be required, at their own expense, to take the BC Soccer endorsed Respect in Sport ELearning Course before they are permitted to return to the field.
Please read our Zero Tolerance Policy with regard to abuse of officials. Read More Here. |
What to Know as a Parent Linesperson |
So you've volunteered to run the line for your daughter's game because no one else will do it, here is some advice.
DO:
1. Before the game starts, ask the referee if they want you to call offsides.
2. If the ball snakes in an out of play, put your flag straight up until the referee acknowledges you and then signal the direction. Remember the ball is only out if the entire ball is over the line.
3. Remain neutral in your decision making.
DON'T
1. Don't under any circumstances engage with the spectators, players or team officials whether positive or negative, directed at you or someone else. If you need support speak to the referee. 2. Don't take it personally if the referee overturns or disagrees with your signal. 3. Don't coach or instruct players while performing this role.
ASSIST THE REFEREE BUT NEVER INSIST
Completed in consultation with Al Moir, Lakehill Head Referee who runs a course for "club linespersons". Read more from his course here. |

BCSPL Update | |
A LISA team can not use Wave rostered players during their break from competition unless that player has permanently left the team and completed the necessary transfer paperwork. Any LISA players interesting in finding out more about BCSPL should contact Andrew Latham. |
Spectators | |
Reminder wherever possible, adhere to the FIFA and BC Soccer rule that team benches should be on the same side AND spectators should be placed on the opposite side. |
Reminder: LISA Field Closure Procedures | |
If you are unable to play your scheduled game due to a field closure, please advise your score recorder and attempt to reschedule the game. |
