U8-U10 LISA Research

This coming season Lower Island Soccer Association will be taking a close look at the U8 and U10 divisions.

We want to make sure that the players involved in these age groups are getting what they need from the games in terms of touches on the ball and more importantly physical activity.

We will be watching a number of games and recording ball touches and perceived physical activity. Once we have the data we need we will be in a position to make any changes if we feel they are needed.

If you have any comments or questions about this project please contact the LISA head coach Andrew Latham.

You make the call
Attacker A attempts to pass the ball to attacker B who is in an offside position.  The ball is deflected off the head of a defender and lands at the feet of attacker B who attempts to play the ball.

Is this player offside?
Did you know?
If you want to take a team out of the country to play a tournament you need to apply for an "Application to Travel".

A team official completes the BC Soccer form and sends it to LISA for signature.  This makes sure all of the players have insurance when they cross the border.

FAQ of the month

How many Out-Of-Boundary players (transfers) are my club allowed:

i) For the three smallest clubs (Salt Spring, Sooke and Prospect Lake) 5 for teams up to U16, 7 for teams at U17 and U18;

ii) For the four next largest clubs (Gorge, Peninsula, Lakehill and GH/CB), 3 for teams up to U16, 5 for teams at U17 and U18;

iii) For the three largest clubs (Bays, JdF and Cowichan), 1 for teams up to U16, 3 for teams at U17 and U18

The correct call
YES OFFSIDE because under Law 11 the defender interfered with play by touching the ball.  The critical decision is that even though the ball went off the defender the defender never had control of the ball.
