Quote of the Month

"You can change the past by changing your behaviour in the present, since the present soon becomes your past. You also shape your future by the actions you take today."

Interesting statistics:

Important to recognize that learning needs to be reinforced. People retain

- 20% of what they hear

- 30% of what they see

- 50% of what they hear and see

- 70% of what they see , hear and say (eg. Discuss, explain to others); and

- 90 % of what they see, hear, say and do.

It is in the post-training phase where participants translate their action plans into reality.

If your faced with learning something new, take action to get satisfaction, "doing" is important.

What Some of Our Clients Have to Say About Dynamite Coaching:

"I've been working with Mark for over 6 months now and his coaching has helped me achieve a new phase in my life. Mark's enthusiasm and friendliness make him an instant friend and confidante, very encouraging and thoughtful. More importantly his coaching has allowed me to go down a road of my own choosing with confidence, and has helped me understand my own nature along the way."

"Mark truly does coach, he does not tell you what to do, how to live your life, or how to feel and how to be. He doesn't make you feel bad if things don't work out or if you fail. Instead he is truly devoted to helping you find your own way, in your own language, with your own sensibilities, simply guiding you to the answers that before were just out of reach."

Make Life "Funner," Shape Your Path

Watch this YouTube video and notice how 66% more people used the stairs when the staircase, leading from the subway, was converted into a giant key board.

The Fun Theory

Statistically that's a huge change in the behaviour of individuals from using the convenient escalator to the more physically demanding staircase.

How'd they do it? There was no instruction or education provided on the benefits of taking the stairs, nor were there any penalties or threats imposed on anyone if they decided to use the escalator. The people were still free to choose stairs or escalator.

So how'd they do it?

They made it "funner!" (I know it's not a real word, but it's "funner" to use it).

The organizers "shaped the path" for the pedestrians by encouraging them to do an activity (ie. take the stairs) because it was now "funner" than taking the escalator.

What makes you smile?

What makes you laugh?

What makes you happy?

How might you take something you have on your to-do list and make it "funner" and more appealing to you? Shape your path by shaping your activity. Make it "funner."

Coach-Like Approach Techniques to Improve Your Communication Skills

Question: Who communicates for a living? Answer: Everybody! If You Live on Planet Earth, You Communicate For a Living.

So how important does it become to have good communication skills? Communication can be the Number #1 determinant to your success; more important than knowledge, academics or experience. No one is saying these other areas aren't important, but if you can't get your message out, how much you know becomes irrelevant. Have you ever had someone say "I'm not sure I understand what you mean" or "been in a conversation where somehow it becomes confrontational and emotionally charged and you're not sure what to do?" How good are you at "dealing with conflict?"

How well you communicate will directly affect your ultimate level of success or failure in any situation. So I invite you to come and participate in a fun and interactive class where you will learn great tips and techniques on how to bolster your "skills" and fill up your "communication tool box."
