5 Life Lessons

When you can no longer think of a reason to continue, you must think of a reason to start over.

The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any.

If you are looking for the love of your life, stop! They will be waiting for you when you start doing things that you love.

If you judge a book by it's cover, and you don't like what you see, you'll never know how good the chapters are - which is what makes great books great.

Don't mix bad words with a bad mood. Just be calm and deal with it. You'll have many opportunities to change your mood, but you'll have a really tough time recovering the words you spoke.

The Truth Is ...

"My time at MBA was the pivotal experience in my life. Today, sixty years later, my life is still guided by the spiritual orientation instilled through the ministry of MBA to a troubled teen. The ministry that I am still involved in - being a Christian author and a pastor to the church of the unchurched (The Good News Rescue Mission) - had its origins in the Godly nurture I received at MBA so long ago."

Pastor James V. Potter. Ph.D.

Class of 1954

"Monterey Bay Academy has filled a pivotal role in not only my own education, but also in my wife.  The legacy of spiritually-based teaching and mentorship, superb musical organizations, and a continued commitment to academic excellence makes MBA truly one of a kind!"

Joe L. Wheeler, Ph.D.
Class of 1954

Author, Christmas in My Heart book series

"My conversion to Christ at MBA set my life in a direction that cannot be described in words, because it has been an experience.  I could never repay the valuable training and life preparation I received at MBA."

Jose Rojas, Class of 1978

Director, Volunteer Ministries, North American Division of SDA

"I am indebted to the teachers and leaders that I now realize were making great sacrifices to work at MBA.  The education, discipline, and life-long friendships from my years at MBA are invaluable assets that will live with me forever."

Scott Nelson, M.D., Class of 1988

Medical Director, CURE International, Haiti and Santo Domingo

"The atmosphere at MBA is very warm and supportive, the teachers are very Christ centered, the school offers many interesting opportunities for a variety of activities, and the campus is an idyllic place to attend school."

Lindsey Henning, Class of 2011

  Sonora, CA

"I feel a certain pride toward MBA.  I feel it is a school that really develops a child's character.  Compared to other schools I have seen, MBA seems so personal and because of the boarding school experience, it is like a family.  I feel very attached to MBA and being at MBA makes me feel like part of a kind of special 'club', a club connected with God that has many members that all have that same feeling."

4 Inspiring Short Stories to Make You Smile

Here's a selection of 5 short stories recently published on Makes Me Think. These stories not only made me think, but made me smile too.  I hope they do the same for you.   Enjoy.

1. Today at 1AM, my grandma, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, got up, got into my dad's car and drove off.  We contacted the police.  But before the police could find her, two college kids pulled into our driveway with my grandma.  One was driving my dad's car and the other was following in their car.  They said they overheard her crying about being lost at an empty gas station 10 miles away.  My grandma couldn't remember our address, but gave the kids her first and last name.  They looked her up online, found our address, and drove her home.  MMT

2. Today, my 8-year-old son hugged me and said, "You are the best mom in the whole entire world!"  I smiled and sarcastically replied, "How do you know that?  You haven't met every mom in the whole entire world."  My son squeezed me tighter and said, "Yes I have.  You are my world."  MMT

3. Today, my dad turned 91.  He barely has enough strength to speak.  But every time my mom (she's 84) walks into the room to check on him, he says, "Hello beautiful."  MMT

4. Today, when I opened my store at 5AM there was an envelope sitting on the floor by the door.  In the envelope was $600 and a note that said, "Five years ago, I broke into your store at night and stole $300 worth of food.  I'm sorry.  I was desperate.  Here's the money with 100% interest."  Interestingly, I never reported the incident to the cops because I assumed that whoever stole the food really needed it.  MMT
