"I feel a certain pride toward MBA.  I feel it is a school that really develops a child's character.  Compared to other schools I have seen, MBA seems so personal and because of the boarding school experience, it is like a family.  I feel very attached to MBA and being at MBA makes me feel like part of a kind of special 'club', a club connected with God that has many members that all have that same feeling

Dear MBA Family,

Have you ever been following someone in your car until you got separated from each other and then became lost?  That happened to me once-back in the day before cell phones!  Naturally, I was in a hurry to catch up and wouldn't you know it-I got pulled over by a policeman.  Sometimes things go wrong when we try to follow other people.  But if we Follow Me Posterchoose to follow Jesus, He is always the same and is patiently waiting for us.  He promises that "You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart."--Jeremiah 29:13.  He doesn't say that we "might" find Him, and He doesn't play hide and seek with us.  The decision is ours, whether we want to be found by Him.
Senior Recognition this Week-end, October 14-15
We are blessed to have an excellent senior class of 64 students, 30 of whom are 4-year class members!  The senior class of 2012 has invited parent Kelly Machado to speak on Friday evening, and English teacher Jason Mustard to speak on Sabbath morning.  There will be a special potluck lunch for all seniors, families and MBA staff members on Sabbath in the Gym fireside room.  Wondering how you will be able to pay for your child's college expenses?  There will be a Financial aid workshop conducted at MBA by Pacific Union College on Sat., October 15 between 6:45 and 7:45pm in classroom #7.  Following that, at 8:00pm, the MBA Faculty/Staff Talent show will begin in Baker Chapel.  We have many multi-talented staff members and you never know what hidden talents will be revealed!  There will be a special live performance from MBA's Beach Street Home Boys.  Admission is free to all of these week-end events and all are invited.
Looking Ahead
Our first quarter ends on Friday, October 14 and quarter grades will be ready by Wednesday of next week.  You can follow your child's grades and attendance on PowerSchool.  If you need an access code or have questions, contact our Academic V.P., Donna Baerg at academics@montereybayacademy.org.
CCC Prayer Conference will take place in Modesto this year from Oct. 20-23.  Over 30 students have signed up so far.  We are seeking interested parents who might be able to attend as an adult sponsor.  MBA's varsity football teams will travel to Loma Linda for a tournament to end the season on Oct. 28-30.
Parent Week-end, November 18-20
We hope you can join us for Parent week-end this year.  Come experience MBA life and meet the MBA faculty and staff members.  Lunch will be provided on Sabbath in the cafeteria and there will be a special guest presentation at 3:30pm.  On Saturday evening, Nov. 19, the Junior Class Talent program will begin at 6:30pm.  Sunday morning is "Take your parent to class" day.  You are encouraged to spend the morning visiting your child's classes with him/her.  All classes will meet from 7:30am until 12:25pm.  Dorm students will receive a sack lunch as Thanksgiving home leave officially begins on Sunday, November 20 at 12:25pm.  Please make your travel plans accordingly.  It will be most difficult for MBA staff members to help with any Sunday morning transportation.  School will resume on Monday, November 28 after the Thanksgiving week holiday.
Financial Clarification
We are glad you have chosen to entrust your child to us here at MBA.  We want you to know that we depend on your financial payments in a regular and timely manner.  Our operational costs must be paid on time (food, utilities, services, payroll, etc.).  Also note, that your child may choose to be involved in extra-curricular activities.  If so, these ADDITIONAL COSTS must be paid in addition to your regular tuition payments.  For more information or to make a payment on-line, contact business manager Mayra Thompson at:  financial@montereybayacademy.org   Thank you!
