Kaitlynn Gonzales, Class of 2010 Merced, CA |
"Your school has provided a great christian environment for my son's spiritual growth. Also your school offers a very challenging academic environment. I have enjoyed seeing and hearing my son's personal growth. I love to see the fruit of my labor flourish. Thank You Monterey Bay Academy!"
Jose Valencia Sr., Current Parent Chowchilla, CA |
"My conversion to Christ at MBA set my life in a direction that cannot be described in words, because it has been an experience. I could never repay the valuable training and life preparation I received at MBA."

"I feel a certain pride toward MBA. I feel it is a school that really develops a child's character. Compared to other schools I have seen, MBA seems so personal and because of the boarding school experience, it is like a family. I feel very attached to MBA and being at MBA makes me feel like part of a kind of special 'club', a club connected with God that has many members that all have that same feeling."

Dear MBA Family,
Perhaps you are old enough to remember the E. F. Hutton television commercials from the 1970s and 1980s (if not, you can find them on Youtube). My favorite is the little girl in elementary school. In the commercial, a person is casually talking to someone else in a crowded setting. One of the people says "my broker is E.F. Hutton, and E.F. Hutton says....." At that moment, everyone and everything in the room stopped in frozen stillness to hear the next words. Edward Francis Hutton died in 1962 and his brokerage firm was eventually merged and sold until it no longer exists today. We know that people, businesses and nations will rise and fall, but as Christians, we know that God will always be present. He is the same "yesterday, today and forever"-Heb. 13:8 |
MBA Happenings
| Thirteen MBA Seniors along with several parents and Donna Baerg are visiting Walla Walla University this week-end. In past years, this trip has been during the February home leave, which will be this year's Senior Class trip (Feb. 8-13, 2012). The Junior English classes went on an educational whale-watching trip to Monterey on Thursday, Oct. 6. This annual event is part of their study of "Moby Dick" in Mr. Mustard's English III class.
This week-end MBA is hosting the Junior Varsity Friendship games flag-football tournament (click here for weekend program). Five schools will be participating, including: Sierra View Junior Academy; Mountain View Academy, Central Valley Christian Academy, Lodi Academy and MBA. On Sabbath, there will be a special brunch served in the cafeteria for all guests from 10:00 to 11:00am with church to follow in Baker Chapel (casual attire). After church we are taking everyone to Point Lobos State Reserve for an afternoon of exploring and hiking. Point Lobos is located approx. 3 miles south of Carmel on highway 1 (37 miles from MBA). Visitors are encouraged to park along highway 1 and walk in through the main entrance. Our group will be using the Whaler's Cove area as abase for the

| Vernon Hsu, Mathematics |
We are happy to welcome math teacher, Vernon Hsu and his wife, Joan, and daughters Kylie (6) and Janae (4) to the MBA family this year (and Clover-their Golden Retriever). Mr. Hsu grew up in Michigan and Taiwan before graduating from Far Eastern Academy in Singapore. Since his graduation from Pacific Union College, he has taught in 4 different schools over the past 18 years. He and his family enjoy being back in California, nearer to some of their family and friends. They also enjoy the cooler weather and living near the beach. Mr. Hsu is the middle of 3 children and enjoys playing golf and other sports. He and his wife will be coaching the MBA girls Volleyball team this year. Mr. Hsu is also the Freshman class sponsor-(rah rah 2015!) His favorite bible text is Philippians 4:13-"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."
