Compared to other schools I have seen, MBA seems so personal and because of the boarding school experience, it is like a family. Dear MBA Family,
Do you remember the days of Disneyland E-ticket rides?? Before Disney changed their system of ticket books in 1982, customers purchased value books with coupons A through E. The highly prized "E" tickets allowed you to access the newest, most expensive and thrilling or advanced rides and attractions. Today, I believe that MBA offers its students the full E-tick et experience! At MBA, students will find dynamic teachers and passionate staff members; educational tours and trips; service-oriented opportunities and projects; enriched classes; world-class guests and lecturers; a wide variety of leadership opportuniti- es and extra-curricular activities; work/study education and most importantly, the chance to grow spiritually and have a "Kingdom Prep" worldview. |
| MBA welcomed Christian author and speaker, Susy Flory to our campus today. Her most recent book - Thunder Dog: The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog, and the Triumph of Trust at Ground Zero - (co-authored with Michael Hingson) was released in early August and has spent five weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list. Her assembly presentation was very inspirational. More than 40 students met with her during the question and answer session at lunch. One of her autographed books would make a delightful gift for your son/daughter or favorite bookworm (Christmas is coming). Contact Cheri Gregory for ordering information. Happening Now
| This past Wednesday evening, MBA staff members made their surprise visit to the dorms for "cookie night" to deliver plates of home made cookies and milk to all dorm students. Tonight, Sept. 23, all MBA students are invited into the homes of their MBA staff advisors (about 10 per group) for vespers and a home environment beginning at 7:30pm. Girls assistant dean Lawren Morrison will be speaking for church on Sabbath at 11:10am. On Sunday, the JV flag-football teams will be leaving at 5:30am for a tournament at Fresno Adventist Academy. At the same time, many of the seniors will begin working as volunteers along the race course for the 6th annual Mermaid Triathlon held in Capitola/Santa Cruz.
The MBA Mission trip will depart for Denver, CO, early Monday morning, Sept. 26 with Pastor Jeff Deming leading 21 students and other adults. They will return on Sunday, Oct. 2. |
Home Leave, Sept. 28 - Oct. 2
| No doubt many of you are looking forward to seeing your children next week during our first home leave of the school year. It will begin at 12:25pm on Wednesday, Sept. 28 and classes will resume on Monday morning, Oct. 3. The dormitories and cafeteria are closed during our home leaves. Please plan to pick up your students from the dorms by 5pm on Wednesday and return them between 3pm and 10pm on Sunday evening. MBA provides a bus to and from the San Jose airport on home leave days (cost--$30 round-trip if prearranged at least two weeks in advance, contact business office for further details). If you are booking a flight from the San Jose airport, please do not book a departing flight until after 3pm on Wed. and the return flight to arrive on Sunday between 5 and 8pm. If your student needs special airport transportation outside of the bus service, you may contact several independent shuttle/transportation services (approx. $75/one way).
