Roselle

 Roselle

Chapter 1 of Thunder Dog opens in the wee hours of the morning on September 11, 2001. Michael Hingson is awakened by his guide dog Roselle, who suffers from severe storm phobia.

Although she has adeptly guided Michael through many storms, this night she is free from her "professional uniform"-her harness. Whining with anxiety and panting heavily from fear, she seeks comfort from the man she trusts.

As Michael sits up with Roselle until the storm passes, her breathing calms, and she settles back to a peaceful sleep, he can not imagine the test of trust they will soon face...together.
