"It's a family friendly school, it creates opportunities in all aspects of life. Including education, life lessons, and getting closer to God. You also make friendships here that are impossible to make anywhere else."
Kaitlynn Gonzales, Class of 2010 Merced, CA |
"Your school has provided a great christian environment for my son's spiritual growth. Also your school offers a very challenging academic environment. I have enjoyed seeing and hearing my son's personal growth. I love to see the fruit of my labor flourish. Thank You Monterey Bay Academy!"
Jose Valencia Sr., Current Parent Chowchilla, CA |
"My conversion to Christ at MBA set my life in a direction that cannot be described in words, because it has been an experience. I could never repay the valuable training and life preparation I received at MBA."

"I feel a certain pride toward MBA. I feel it is a school that really develops a child's character. Compared to other schools I have seen, MBA seems so personal and because of the boarding school experience, it is like a family. I feel very attached to MBA and being at MBA makes me feel like part of a kind of special 'club', a club connected with God that has many members that all have that same feeling."

"I am indebted to the teachers and leaders that I now realize were making great sacrifices to work at MBA. The education, discipline, and life-long friendships from my years at MBA are invaluable assets that will live with me forever."

Dear MBA Family,
It happened 23 years ago today. Our first little girl was born. I was there in the hospital room with Nancy when baby Jessica entered the world. They wrapped her up and placed her in a little incubator where I eagerly looked at this beautiful little creature. She wrapped her tiny fingers around my finger and opened her eyes for the first time. This summer, I will walk her down the aisle on her wedding day. Being a parent is a marvelous privilege filled with many adventures along the way! I want to thank each of you for entrusting us with your children here at MBA. Each one of them is a masterpiece created by God. May He continue to give us wisdom as we work together to prepare our children for eternity. Please join me in praying for our students and staff every day.

MBA Happenings
|
It is a beautiful sunny day here at MBA. Our school flag has been flying at half mast this week in support of the victims of the Arizona shootings. Today in assembly, the students went to the gym for a bit of fun. Some students won cash, gift cards, candy bars and water bottles for successful half-court basketball shots and Frisbee tosses in the target.
Our Oceanaires and Westwinds have been touring to schools and churches in Hollister, Los Banos, Chowchilla, Merced, Sonora and Modesto this week (7 concerts, click here for more info).
The varsity basketball teams will be playing in a tournament at Central Valley Christian Academy (Jan. 14-16) and the J.V. basketball team will be playing at Mountain View Academy on January 16. Also on Sunday, a group of about 15 MBA students will be attending the GLOW (Giving Light to our World) Rally in Fresno. There might even be a few students left behind to relax in campus this week-end =).

Next week is our Student Week of Prayer with daily meetings at 11:10am. We will have a regular school day on Monday, Jan. 17 with a special assembly program honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Following the assembly, we will raise a crisp new U.S. flag in front of Grunke Hall. On January 22, MBA welcomes special guest speaker Jim Gilley, President of Three Angels Broadcasting Network (3ABN) for our worship service.
ASB Spirit Week is coming to MBA from Jan. 24-28. We will also be hosting the MBA Music Festival from Jan. 27-29 for Junior Academies and Elementary schools.

 | Janette Sheperd, School Nurse |
Janette Sheperd is the MBA school nurse this year. She and her husband, Stann, will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary this summer and have lived in the Santa Cruz area for over 5 years. Before that, they came from Portland, Oregon and before that, Walla Walla College (where they met). They have 3 boys, Samm '12, Forrest (13), and Simon (10). They are in the process of moving to the MBA campus and have spent considerable time and effort fixing up a campus home.
Mrs. Sheperd received her B.S. in Nursing from Walla Walla College and has had a wide variety of nursing experience in her career. One of the most rewarding things she has been involved with is the CHIP program (Coronary Health Improvement Project) at the Santa Cruz SDA Church. She loves helping people feel better and wants to help MBA students learn how to make healthier choices, both now and in the future. If you would like to contact her about your child or other medical issues, you may reach her at: jannrn@gmail.com
Mrs. Sheperd is usually at the dormitories early in the morning each week day to assess and help students who want to be on the sick list. The MBA Nurse position is only a part-time job, so she also works as a nurse in Santa Cruz. We appreciate her cheerful spirit and the many hours she puts in for MBA. Thank you Janette!
