"I feel a certain pride toward MBA.  I feel it is a school that really develops a child's character.  Compared to other schools I have seen, MBA seems so personal and because of the boarding school experience, it is like a family.  I feel very attached to MBA and being at MBA makes me feel like part of a kind of special 'club', a club connected with God that has many members that all have that same feeling

Happy New Year

Dear MBA Family,

Happy New Year!!  As we begin 2011, there is very little that we can do to stop the relentless forward march of TIME.  Maybe you've heard the expression "The past is history, the future is a mystery, today is a gift-that's why it's called the present."  I hope your desire is to live every day to the fullest this year.  None of us knows exactly what the future holds.  Another quote, written more than a thousand years ago says "Man fears time; God's timebut time fears only the pyramids."-9th Century Arab Proverb.  While some things stand the test of time better than others, the only thing that will last into eternity will be the relationships we have with others and our characters.  May God, the master time-keeper, give each of us growth in these areas in the New Year.

Hans Martin, Boys' Taskforce Dean
Hans Martin, Boys' Taskforce Dean

Our Boys' Taskforce Dean this year, Hans Martin comes to MBA from his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.  Dean Hans graduated from Greater Boston Academy in 2003, where he was a student under P.E. Coach Bryant Worth.  He then went to Columbia Union College (now Washington Adventist University) and completed a degree in Physical Education.  He finished a Master's degree in Miami before coming to MBA this year.  Dean Hans enjoys playing most any sport and is a huge fan of the Boston Celtics.  Celtics logoIn addition to being a full-time dean, he has been involved in substitute teaching,  coaching, and helping out with Men of McQuaide activities (such as the MBA Staff Gladiator games).  Looking back, he will remember the beautiful MBA campus and the way he has felt welcomed into the MBA family.  He hopes to someday be a full-time P.E. Teacher/Coach and Athletic Director.  Dean Hans has two younger brothers and wants the MBA students to see him as a "big brother" and to realize they can have fun in life, yet still serve God.  "If you're not laughing-you ain't living" is one of his favorite quotes and he looks for the positive things in life and in his students.  Thank you Dean Hans for serving at MBA this year.
