THE TRUTH IS...

"My conversion to Christ at MBA set my life in a direction that cannot be described in words, because it has been an experience.  I could never repay the valuable training and life preparation I received at MBA."

Jose Rojas, Class of 1979

Director, Volunteer Ministries, North American Division of SDA

"I feel a certain pride toward MBA.  I feel it is a school that really develops a child's character.  Compared to other schools I have seen, MBA seems so personal and because of the boarding school experience, it is like a family.  I feel very attached to MBA and being at MBA makes me feel like part of a kind of special 'club', a club connected with God that has many members that all have that same feeling
."

Danica Betts, Class of 2011

Associated Student Body (A.S.B.) Executive Vice President 2010-2011

"I am indebted to the teachers and leaders that I now realize were making great sacrifices to work at MBA.  The education, discipline, and life-long friendships from my years at MBA are invaluable assets that will live with me forever
."

Scott Nelson, M.D., Class of 1988

Medical Director, CURE International, Haiti and Santo Domingo

New York/Boston History Tour - Mayflower II

Dear MBA Family,

M.B.A. is once again filled with life and activity as our students returned this week from their first home leave.  The History Tour participants experienced many historical sites in New York

First-year West Point Cadet Hillary Rollins '09

Hillary Rollins West Point
and Boston, including a tour of The United States Military Academy at West Point in upstate New York.  This was a special treat because cadet Hillary Rollins, a four-year MBA graduate (class of  '09) was their personal tour guide (pictured left).  The group also visited historical Adventist sights like the Washington, New Hampshire SDA church.  Sir Isaac Newton is credited with the words: "If I can see further than anyone else, it is only because I am standing on the shoulders of giants".  It is my hope that our students were inspired as they stood on historical ground and heard the stories of those who have gone before us.
MBA Happenings
The weather has been unseasonably warm over the last few days.  Nearby Watsonville set a record high on Monday with a temperature of 101 degrees.  Our temperatures have reached into the 80's, but the ocean breeze or fog keeps MBA in cooler weather.  Our varsity flag-football teams will be attending their final friendship games tournament this week-end in Fresno where each team will play 4 games.  Our girls' team is still undefeated this year with quarterback Danielle Walker '11 and coach Donna Baerg.  The games will begin at 2:30pm on Friday afternoon and will end by 2:30pm on Sunday.  All games will be held at Fresno Adventist Academy in Clovis.
Looking Ahead
Next Wednesday (Oct. 6), the Junior English and Marine Biology classes will be going out on a Monterey Bay whale-watching excursion.  The students have been studying the novel Moby Dick in Mr. Jason Mustard's English class.  Next week-end (Oct. 8-10), MBA will host the Junior Varsity flag-football tournament.  It's hard to believe, but our first quarter will end on Friday, October 15.  MBA will host the CCC Prayer Conference from Oct. 21-23.  Parent week-end is coming the following week-end, Oct. 29-31.  On Friday night and Sabbath morning, the program will be Senior Recognition, where the Senior Class is recognized and challenged as student leaders.  The rest of the week-end will include events designed for you the parents to meet the MBA staff and attend a mini-day of school with your child on Sunday.

Mayra Thompson, VP of Finance
Mayra Thompson
Mayra Thompson joins the MBA staff this year as our new Business Manager and financial Vice-Principal.  For the past 8 years, she has worked as an auditor for the Central California Conference.  Ms. Thompson was born and raised in Panama and is bilingual.  She has two grown children who both graduated from Fresno Adventist Academy and who still live in Fresno, CA.  Both her children attended and graduated from Adventist Colleges.  She is a passionate supporter of Christian Education and is thankful for the blessings God has provided to her through her own experience.  One of her favorite texts is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." -Phil. 4:13.  She encourages parents to trust God and challenge Him to provide the blessings He has promised.
"It is not which way the wind blows - but the way you set your sails."

Make it a great day.

All the best,
