THE TRUTH IS...
"My conversion to Christ at MBA set my life in a direction that cannot be described in words, because it has been an experience. I could never repay the valuable training and life preparation I received at MBA."
Jose Rojas, Class of 1979
Director, Volunteer Ministries, North American Division of SDA |
"I feel a certain pride toward MBA. I feel it is a school that really develops a child's character. Compared to other schools I have seen, MBA seems so personal and because of the boarding school experience, it is like a family. I feel very attached to MBA and being at MBA makes me feel like part of a kind of special 'club', a club connected with God that has many members that all have that same feeling."
Danica Betts, Class of 2011
Associated Student Body (A.S.B.) Executive Vice President 2010-2011 |
"I am indebted to the teachers and leaders that I now realize were making great sacrifices to work at MBA. The education, discipline, and life-long friendships from my years at MBA are invaluable assets that will live with me forever."
Scott Nelson, M.D., Class of 1988
Medical Director, CURE International, Haiti and Santo Domingo |

Tim Kubrock, Principal | Dear MBA Family,
It was May 14, 1947, a Wednesday afternoon and a historical day. Crosley Field was the home of the Cincinnati Reds. The Brooklyn Dodgers were in town with Jackie Robinson, the first black baseball player on the field. The whole stadium seemed filled with racism and hatred directed toward number 42. During warm-ups, 30,000 fans chanted ugly obscenities. Opposing ballplayers joined in, shouting taunts from their dugout. Jackie Robinson stood alone over at first base. Suddenly, shortstop "Pee Wee" Reese walked from shortstop to first base, and put an arm of friendship around Jackie Robinson's shoulders. He stood there looking into the dugout and into the stands. Later on, Robinson said "I never felt alone on a baseball field again." What a powerful difference can be made by a single person of character, willing to stand for what is right. |
MBA Happenings | Our campus is very quiet right now during this first home leave of the year. We have a group of 39 people (22 MBA students) on a New England History tour with Mr. Zytkoskee. They are visiting New York City today and will be heading to Boston on Friday. We also have a group of student leaders attending the Pacific Union Conference Leadership Retreat at Leoni Meadows with Pastor Jeff Deming and his wife. On Sunday, our girls Junior Varsity flag-football team will be playing 3 games at the Fresno Academy tournament (9:00am vs. CVCA; 11:10am vs. LODI; and 1:50pm vs. MVA). Home leave ends on Monday night and classes resume on Tuesday morning, Sept. 28. |
Looking Ahead | Parent Week-end is coming! Save the date and plan to attend Oct. 29-31. On Friday night and Sabbath morning, the program will be Senior Recognition. The rest of the week-end will include events designed for you the parents to meet the MBA staff and attend a mini-day of school with your child on Sunday. Stay tuned for more detailed information soon.

Survival Kit Orders |
In an effort to help you keep your child motivated through the year, we have a wonderful program where four times during the school year you will have the opportunity for your child to receive a Jamba Juice smoothie and a bag full of goodies called a Survival Kit to make sure he or she has reinforcements while they study at the end of each quarter. You can purchase a Survival Kit for your son, daughter or any other student you may know at MBA. The Survival Kits will be delivered to the dormitories at the end of each quarter and at the beginning of semester exam week on October 12, December 13, March 7 and May 30 (These dates are subject to change). The cost is $5 each ($20 for the whole year). We would also be happy to include a card from you or any other items you would like to have added. All you have to do is complete the Survival Kit Order Form (click here) and return it to us with your payment by October 8, 2010. Please send one payment for the entire year. Please keep in mind that this is not a fund-raiser and all your money goes towards your child's Survival Kit items. We want to give you the opportunity to share a moment with your child, whether they are a day student or away from home. Please call Nathan Henderson at (831) 728-1481 ext. 1221 or email info@montereybayacademy.org if you have any questions. |
