Parents,

You know your child best and your input is valued as we partner to best meet individual student needs and plan for next year. The PARENT INPUT FORM is linked to the school's website (see lower right corner) and you are encouraged to fill it out and return it to the office by MARCH 30.  The intent of this form is to assist in the gathering of information and insight from multiple perspectives.  Specific teacher requests are not guaranteed.

Thanks,

Mme Lukaska

Reduced French Intern Count Next Year

We plan to invite 21 French Interns to Edina next year instead of our usual 23. This means there may be classrooms without Intern support next school year.

We are inviting the number of Interns that our community can support based on the number of host families we have for them. To the families who signed up to host next year, a huge MERCI! The Interns are a critical part of our French Immersion program, and we couldn't invite them without your generous hospitality!

If you missed the deadline, but still want to host, let us know TOUT DE SUITE (now!). For every two host families, we can bring one more intern. Our offers will be mailed soon to the best candidates, so the clock is ticking. Tick. Tick. Tick.

To learn more or sign up, visit the website website or contact Kris Wetmore at 952-926-9503.

Normandale Teachers win Innovation Grants

Congratulations to Kany Seck and Donna Griswold on winning Edina Education Fund Innovation Grants.  Kany Seck was granted $4990 to purchase iPads for use in the classroom to help differentiate instruction and make student learning more engaging.  Donna Griswold will also receive funding for iPads for use in Special Education.  In addition, Normandale received funding to implement "The SMART Traveling Teacher" which is a technology that is geared toward Special Education and Hard of Hearing students.

 Innovation Grant

Thank you to everyone who contributes to the Edina Education Fund.  It is your support that makes grants like these possible in our school.

Staff Appreciation Lunch

Attention 3rd and 5th grade parents - Spring Appreciation Lunch

The families from 3rd and 5th grade are sponsoring a Spring Appreciation Lunch on Wednesday, March 14 to show the teachers, interns and staff how much we appreciate all they do. The theme of the meal is SALAD SUPREME! We would like to provide a super salad bar along with tasty breads, fruits, desserts, etc.

We hope that many 3rd and 5th grade families will sign up to donate food and/or volunteer to set up, serve and clean up for the event. Please visit the Google doc to sign-up.

Donations should be dropped off by 10:00am on Wednesday, March 14. All items should be labeled "staff appreciation" and placed on the table outside the Normandale auditorium. (If you need to drop off an item a day or two before the event, please contact me and we can coordinate that drop-off.) If your food requires refrigeration, there is a refrigerator inside the art supply room to the right of the auditorium entrance. If you are unsure of the location, please ask Karen or Brittany at the front desk. Any supplies/containers that you provide and want back can be picked up after 1:10pm on the day of the event.

We know that this event is truly appreciated by the Normandale staff. Thanks in advance for your support in creating a "day off" from their daily lunch routine.

Cyndi Johnson - 3rd Grade Room Parent

2012 Imagination Fair a success!
With roughly 70 projects and 100 student participants from all six grades, our Normandale auditorium was packed with fun and energy last week for the 2012 Imagination Fair.
