Then continue the fun afterschool. Normandale families have been invited to walk in the Edina High School Homecoming Parade.
Eiffel Tower T-shirt

Put on your Normandale 20th Anniversary t-shirt (or just any white t-shirt with black pants or blue jeans and meet at 3:45pm this Friday, September 30, at the Edina Country Club tennis/pool parking lot off of 50th.

For even more fun, have your kids make a paper French flag to wave to the crowd.

The parade runs down Wooddale, right on 58th Street, right onto Concord, and then on to Southview Lane into the parking lot at the Southview Middle School at about 5:15pm.

Just a reminder - you will need to walk with your child at this event.

We hope to have a good turn out and show our school spirit.

 French Enrichment Classes

We are excited to offer after school French Enrichment classes again this year! Classes are an excellent opportunity for students to build language, reading and math skills in French after school. Because of Visa regulations, this will be the only chance for your child to work with an intern outside of the school day.

Classes are taught by our talented Normandale interns. Interns work with just 3-4 students at a time and use games and activities to supplement the learning happening in the classroom. All instruction is in French and, because students are grouped by grade level, classes are open to children in grades K-5.

This year, classes will run from October - April and are offered on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:15 - 4:00. Students will be dismissed to the classes from their classrooms and must be picked up at 4:00. Children who normally attend Kids Club will be escorted to Kids Club afterward.

You may sign up for one or both sessions. Sessions are $70 ($10/class). Space is limited so sign up early!

Monday Session: October 17, November 14, December 2, January 9, February 13, March 19, April 23

Wednesday Session: October 12, November 2, December 7, January 18, February 1, March 7, April 11

Sign-up:  Please print out and complete the sign-up form and attach payment (checks made out to the Normandale PTO). Payment is due in full upon registration. Submit the form to the Normandale office or to your child's teacher by Friday, September 30th. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis so don't wait to sign up!

You will receive email confirmation that your child is enrolled in the class. If classes are full, your uncashed check will be returned to you.

If you have questions, please contact Kelsey Wolf.

PTO Dues Still Needed

Merci Beaucoup to the 318 families who have paid their PTO dues for the 2011-12 school year.

However, we still have 143 families that have not paid as of September 16. If you have not yet paid your dues for this year, please go to the PTO Website and click on the link in the upper right hand corner to pay via Paypal or download a printable form to pay via check.

[Note: If you pay your PTO dues via employer payroll deduction and/or employer matching funds, please send an email to John Conte so that we can track separately.

Policy for Informational Flyers

Please note that the Edina Public Schools does not send home informational flyers from local community groups or extracurricular activity vendors. Anyone wishing to send flyer may review the No Flyer Zone policy.

District departments and schools do not distribute flyers to students produced by or on behalf of non-school, non-school district organizations. Students at Normandale Elementary will not bring home from school a variety of flyers and informational pamphlets about non-school-site programs and events. Our families may receive information about activities at school, school district programs and events and other school-related news. Edina Schools will assist in posting non-school options on a social networking space linked to our Facebook page.  Families interested in the wide variety of options available to them should subscribe (RSS) or check the site for such information.  Please be sure that you notify the principal's office if you have no electronic access available to you and wish to know about such opportunities.

Thanks to Volunteers

Merci, Merci, Merci!

SmileyPhotographerPicture Day ran smoothly due to the great parents that volunteered - Chris Conte, Shannon Sieve, Julie Wellmann and Kris Wetmore. Thank you all for making the kids relaxed and helping them put on their best smiles. Also, to Karen and Brittany for their continued support!

PencilsThe kids are settled in their classes and have their pencils, scissors, folders and much more in place thanks to the help of the crew that sorted and delivered the school supplies to the classrooms prior to school starting! A huge thanks to the parents and families that helped in making that process run effortlessly - The Sengs, the Pascals, the Bonnevilles, the Vaillancourts, the Linders, and the Chirpich family. Success comes with support!

Thank you!

Art Adventure Volunteers Needed!
