Innisbrook Tip of the Week |

By now each student should have received a large envelope with the details, catalogs and an order form for our annual Innisbrook fundraiser. Our goal this year is $20,000 in profit to the PTO to help fund our amazing Interns.
The sale deadline is Monday, October 11th.
If you have more than one child at Normandale participating in the sale, you have two options:
-
Set up an Innisbrook account for each child and enter the items that child sells. They will earn a prize just for themselves.
- Set up an Innisbrook account for just one child and enter all the items sold by the family on that one profile. The kids can work towards a larger prize that they can share.
Questions about the sale or how to enter your orders? Contact Innisbrook Customer Service or Susan DeSimone ( susan@desimoneinc.com, 952-922-4077).

Now on the Web: Get to Know the French Interns! |
You know who the French Interns are: the lovely young people sharing their teaching skills, culture, and perfect French accents with our children every day in school. But do you know which of this year's interns... has a pet chipmunk? Wants to learn kung fu? Loves Rubik's Cubes? Hates cinnamon? Who loves spicy food and who does not?
|
Neighborhood Network |
Like to meet interns? Too busy to host or partner?
Normandale's Neighborhood Network (NN) is an email list of families willing to provide occasional (you decide how often) support to interns. Whether you help out with a ride or by loaning out your extra sporting or camping equipment, joining the NN is a perfect way to meet our wonderful interns and enhance their stay in Minnesota.

Welcome back from the Health Office! |
We hope you had a relaxing and healthy summer.
Just a reminder to please submit your annual health forms. These forms are very important to ensure that we are aware of your child's health status.
For your convenience, there is a drop off basket located in the front office or, if you prefer, you may drop them off in the health office directly.
Thank you, and feel free to stop in or call with any questions or concerns.

20th Anniversary Celebration Corner |
Desperately Seeking Solicitors
Have you ever worked in sales? Do you thrive on getting results? Then we need you!
Event plans for French Connections -- the adult-only 20th anniversary celebration -- are in full swing. We have an incredibly fun and energetic team getting things started. But we still need 3-4 people willing to help the solicitation team. This job has been divided so that it is not too overwhelming. You would collect items for one category only -- such as home and garden. Once you secure the items, your job is done. Others are lined up to write copy for the brochure, create certificates if needed and draft thank you notes to the donors.
Please consider being part of this exciting landmark event. Contact Julie Wohlford at jjwohlford@msn.com or Chris Deets at cdeets@mac.com if you have any questions.

Green Team Meeting |
The Green Team is holding its kick-off meeting for the new school year. The purpose of the meeting will be to explain what has been done in the past and areas we like to address in the future, as well as listen to any ideas you might have.
The same meeting will be held twice to give everyone a chance to attend:
Tuesday, September 28, 8:30 - 9:30 am Normandale - Conference Room
or
Wednesday, September 29, 6:45 - 7:45 pm Edina Library - Meeting Room
Please email John Spanhake ( John.Spanhake@gmail.com) if you are interested in attending or if you have any questions.

Kids Council & SOS |
The PTO would like to gather ideas and suggestions to update and refine Kids Council and SOS for the coming year. If you have past experience with either of these groups and/or have new ideas to share, please contact Cyndi Johnson at marshalldjohnson@yahoo.com to be a part of the redesign committee.
Just what is Kids Council and SOS? Here is the description of the programs from years past: Kids' Council is a group of student representatives from grades 3 to 5. They support a variety of focus areas, such as school beautification, and they coordinate various school events, such as Spirit Week.
SOS (Serve Our School) is a group of students from grades 3 to 5 who serve the Normandale School Community during recess. They may be involved in a variety of projects like sorting/counting box tops, soup labels, and milk caps for the school's silent fundraisers, making posters, or assisting staff/parents with preparations for school-sponsored events.

Edina PCN Welcomes You to the New School Year! |
I am pleased to welcome the families and staff of Edina Public Schools and Our Lady of Grace to Edina Parent Communication Network's (PCN's) 13th year of parenting forums. Thanks to our 35+ volunteers, we have a powerful slate of speakers that will offer their expertise, tips and insights into the world of parenting. I am sure that you will find some words of wisdom that will inspire you in your parenting.
With sincere gratitude we would like to thank the PTAs, PTOs and PTSOs for their continued support of our program. Each year, the member schools pay annual dues which allow us to offer five high-quality forums for our parents and teachers at no charge. With about 9000 students and an intake of $6000 from our member schools, that is a cost of 66 cents per student. Needless to say, Edina PCN offers a great return on investment!
This year, PCN is offering a new email list service. After signing up, you will be able to receive periodic email updates from PCN. We will send reminders about upcoming forums as well as recaps of forums you may have missed. This email service replaces our newsletter and we hope that you find it helpful. Signup is now available on our website at www.edinapcn.com.
Edina is a community that values education, and PCN is proud to support that value. Our mission is to serve the community by providing education and dialogue opportunities for families and educators of children grades K-12.
I hope you have the opportunity to take advantage of our forums this year.
Sincerely,
Kelli von Heydekampf
