U.S. consul hears us out

Anne Callaghan, the U.S. Consul General in Vancouver, visited with Point Roberts community members and business owners over lunch at the Pier Restaurant on Monday, September 10. With Callaghan serving as a liaison with the Canadian government, much of the discussion centered on difficulties encountered with goods in transit from the U.S. mainland. Recently, the Canadian Border Service agency held up a delivery truck for four hours pending agricultural inspection of meat products, according to Brewster's Fine Foods owner Joan Roberts. This was a break from the past as the truck usually travels in bond through Canada.
