Can You Hear Me Now?


Contractors for TowerCo were in Point Roberts on May 6 with a 200-foot crane to complete signal testing for the cell phone tower they plan to build on land leased from the parks district adjacent to Baker Field. Construction on the tower is expected to begin this month, and Verizon Wireless representatives say they expect the tower to be operational this summer.

Voters' association to host county council
members at tonight's meeting


Three Whatcom County Council members and the county treasurer will be special guests at the annual Point Roberts Registered Voters' Association annual general meeting tonight.
Point Roberts beaches closed to all
recreational shellfish harvesting


The Washington State Department of Health has announced all beaches north of Sandy Point, including Point Roberts, are closed to recreational shellfish harvesting.

P R Voters Association Annual General Meeting: Thursday, May 10, 7 p.m., community center. Election of board members. Guests will be Whatcom County Council members Barbara Brenner, Ken Mann and Carl Weimer and Whatcom County treasurer Steve Oliver.

P R Garden Club Plant Sale: Saturday, May 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., community center. All kinds of plants plus local arts and crafts. Donations still accepted: contact Jollena Tylor, 360/945-2562.

Cardboard Mini-Golf at Point Roberts Library: Saturday, May 12, 4 to 6 p.m., Point Roberts library. Come after hours and help create a mini-golf course to play golf in the library stacks. For teenagers 12 and up. Game Night to follow, which is open to everyone. Come to the library or call 360/945-6545 to register for mini-golf.

Cookie Walk Fundraiser:
