Greetings!

What's growing in your garden?

Rogue tomatoes
Those seeds left behind
I've mentioned before that I have a vegetable garden in my yard.  This year I planted 9 tomato plants, 5 cucumbers, 9 pepper plants, jalapenos, eggplant, zucchini, mixed lettuce and spinach, onions and radishes, okra and beets.  Each was planted in a separate area.  As the growing season progressed, I found that there were tomato plants growing where I had not planted them, lots of them.  Puzzled, I thought about it several times - why were rogue tomato plants growing where I had not planted them?

Eureka - I figured it out.  These rogue tomato plants were growing where, last year, the tomato plant section was located (yep, I'm a crop rotator).  Last year some tomatoes fell from the plant, seeds and all, and buried themselves in the soil.  It kinda messed up my whole plan for this year - rogue tomatoes growing all among the cucumber vines, peppers, lettuces, etc. made it hard to walk among the various vegetables to harvest or weed.  I didn't want them there, they messed up my plan.

Life is a lot like that.  Our words and actions are seeds that we leave behind, things we have done and said, and things we have left undone or unsaid.  If we leave good words and good actions behind us, they will take root and grow in the soil of our lives.  The opposite is true too - bad words and bad actions will also take root and grow in the soil of our lives, affecting the gardens in which dwell our spouses and children, colleagues and communities.

So, you ask, "Larry, does that mean that I have to pay constant attention to what I say and do?" and the answer is a simple "Yes".  Of course, that gets easier when we've defined values for our relationships, which provide us a much needed magnetic north for our life's compass.

Or, as my friend, colleague and author Noah Blumenthal says,  Be The Hero . I commend to you his book with that title (hint: click on the link).  If you're struggling with leaving behind rogue seeds, Noah's writing will help you sort it out.  Noah's book is an Amazon best seller, and for good reason.

What are the seeds you want to leave behind? What are you doing to make that happen?

What are you working on?  How's it going?  How can I support you?

And speaking of tomatoes...
How effectively is your business weathering the storm?
I love this little 43 second video:

What an excellent illustration of a business working within the environment it must live in, and figuring out how to thrive, despite the obstacles that come - in this instance, probably several times a day.

I watch this video several times a week.  It lifts my spirits, warms my heart, puts my challenges in context.  If only I could be this efficient!

You owe it to yourself to take less than a minute to watch this, and then ponder what you can do to laugh off the obstacles that come your way.

What are you working on?  How's it going?  How can I support you?

It's at least worth a first conversation
