BrightStone
BrightStone and family are once again brought to our knees in sadness as we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Jim Hinton, Chairman of BrightStone's Board of Directors and past Treasurer. Jim's battle with cancer ended when he joined the angels on Friday morning, September 21.

Jim invested his life in helping those who live with developmental disabilities from the time of the birth of his own son who was born with special needs. When Brian became an adult, Jim continued this focus in his life by giving of his time, expertise, and resources to help BrightStone to be a success.

By joining BrightStone's Board of Directors in 2001, Jim began a journey of 11 years of assistance, oversight, input, and challenge to make our efforts sound and our management risk-free. He partnered with us in the determination to grow a program for underserved adults that would sustain for years to come.

His call to detail and accuracy brought us to an efficient level of financial oversight that continues today and has kept BrightStone a viable and trustworthy nonprofit. His leadership led us through challenging economic times, as well as to current expansion strategies.

Jim's love for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities began with his own son, but expanded to include any and every one that he could help. He devoted his life for the good of others. We will miss his leadership as we continue his vision for BrightStone - to develop a campus with student assisted living that he knew was so very needed.

We lift up his family and friends who will miss his quick smile, the "light up" of his eyes, his words of insight, and his amazing love for his family.
