....About Last Night's Election

Dear LLESD Parents,

Just a brief note about last night's election as it pertains to the three open seats on our School Board. You may have noticed that our local paper, The Almanac, feels confident that it can "call" the election for the two top vote-getters, Ann Jaquith and Jay Siegel, but the paper feels that the race for the third seat is too close to call.

I have talked to officials at the San Mateo County Elections Office concerning this election and have been told that the results will not be certified until a significant number of votes are counted manually. These votes are mail-in ballots that were dropped off at the polling place, provisional ballots, and paper ballots.

The Elections Office has 28 days from yesterday to count ballots and certify the election, and the impression I get is that this process could take a few weeks.

The best way to follow this close race is to consult this link to the Elections Office. It will be updated according to the following schedule:

Thank you,

Eric Hartwig
Superintendent
