Transition Provides Many Opportunities

Thank you for the warm welcome to the Chamber and the community of Santa Barbara. Transition can be challenging for any organization and our transition is no exception as it opens the door for a lot of questions regarding the future direction of the Chamber.

Challenges are really opportunities. Building on the strong foundation and reputation of the Chamber, it is an exciting time for everyone.   It is my privilege to work with the dedicated leadership and staff of the Chamber. I have met and will continue to meet with the membership, committees, and community organizations to help me understand how we can work together to build a strong, vibrant economy in Santa Barbara that ensures the quality of life in this beautiful paradise. It is important that the Chamber is responsive to the needs of our businesses so that they can continue to provide the financial support every community requires through taxes and their support of education and community organizations serving the needs of our citizens.

As the Chamber moves through this transition period, I hope you all will join with me and the Chamber leadership as we move forward to meet the challenges of this changing world and economy. My door is always open. Working together is the catalyst for success.

Chuck's Waterfront Grill and Endless Summer

The Santa Barbara Region Chamber of Commerce has selected Chuck's Waterfront Grill and Endless Summer Bar-Cafe as our business of the month! Chuck's Waterfront Grill is a traditional steak and fish house by the boats overlooking the harbor.

With ties to the world-famous surfing film of the same name, The Endless Summer bar-cafe was named by Sunset Magazine as one of the "Top Ten Seafood Spots by the Sea." The seafood served at both restaurants is from the local Fisherman's Market located right around the corner!

"Steve Hyslop, owner of Chuck's Waterfront Grill, has been extremely helpful over the past several months as an active member on the Board of Directors and in the capacity as a Business Leaders Council member during the current transition," said board member Renee Grubb.

Asked how his business represented Santa Barbara, owner Steve Hyslop said "all of us like to have a place to take our friends and family to the waterfront. Folks travel thousands of miles to find what we've got in our backyard."

His recommendation this summer? The fresh local white sea bass with the Endless Summer Blonde Ale.
