Welcome New Business Leaders. We are pleased to welcome four new members to the Chamber's Business Leaders Council: Dave Schlueter and Linda Northrup of Northrup Schlueter Law Firm; Cynder Sinclair of the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics; and Ian Guthrie of Schley, Look, Guthrie & Locker LLP

Score Partnership. The Chamber has partnered with SCORE to offer a new series of panel discussions to assist small businesses in this troubled economy. Panelists will also advise people in creating their own businesses, purchasing a business or developing an existing business. Five experts will help people with businesses in early stages and potential small business buyers get started in a free of charge interactive panel at the Chamber's offices, 924 Anacapa Street in downtown Santa Barbara, at noon on Thursday, November 4 and 18.

Wib Survey. Congratulations to Jim Youngson of Terrain consulting, he won the iphone  drawing for members who participated in the first Workforce Investment Board labor survey.  If you would like a chance to win an iphone, go to the Chamber web site (sbchamber.org) and click on the 3-minute survey. We are happy to send you the results of both surveys. The data is used to develop work force programs for the South coast.

Coffee with Steve. Join me every Thursday morning from 10-11 AM at the Chamber to discuss any business issue or problem you may encounter. On the first and third Thursdays, Michael Purvis, a local attorney, with extensive business experience, will join me to provide free advice (yes, it's true free legal advice). Last Thursday, we had a businessperson in need of a fabricator for a product she wished to produce locally. We matched her with both a local fabricator and a person to reverse engineer the item. They were all at the meeting.

Teach at City College. SBCC will be offering their Human Resource Management course in the spring. They would love have an experienced HR manager teach the course. Five years senior management experience in HR is needed. An MBA would be nice but not required. Similarly, teaching experience is a plus.  The class is scheduled for 11-12:30 Tuesdays & Thursdays.

Prospects can go to www.sbcc.edu website to apply.
