FSSA Honors Clemons with Lifetime Achievement Award

BALTIMORE, MD, March 2012 - The Fire Suppression Systems Association (FSSA) presented Cal Clemons with its Lifetime Achievement Award. The FSSA Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes Clemons' commitment and outstanding contributions to the association and fire protection industry.

This is the first time this award has ever been presented by FSSA. The inaugural award will recognize fire suppression industry persons who, during their lifetimes, have dedicated their career, through personal and business accomplishments, to the industry.

"We're excited to have this opportunity to have Cal Clemons as the first honoree of the Fire Suppression Systems Association Lifetime Achievement. He has served our industry well for many years," said FSSA Immediate Past President Rick Scott. "Cal truly deserves our recognition and more. Throughout his career, he has been a friend to many and earned our trust and respect."

Clemons began working with a group of individuals in 1982, along with George Keeley, to found the Fire Suppression Systems Association. From a handful of pioneering companies, FSSA has grown in to a recognized entity in the past 30 years.

Clemons received the Lifetime Achievement Award at a special Awards Dinner on February 27 during the 2012 FSSA Forum at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, California.

50th Anniversary Annual Meeting & Conference

CHICAGO, IL

May 24-25, 2013

Swissôtel Chicago

PAFED Spring Conference is April 17-18, 2012

The PAFED Spring Conference will take place in Gettysburg, PA on April 17-18, 2012. It is being held at the "historic" Gettysburg Hotel. This year's event continues the "business" theme of the last several Spring Conferences. Seminar sessions at the conference will focus on such issues as:
  • technology trends and how you can use your wireless devices for improving communication and keeping track of expenses/costs,
  • customer service programs and how to identify the tools necessary to review and improve the elements of customer service, and
  • financial strategies and the hows and how not's in relation to both business and personal investing.
Not a distributor member of PAFED? Then please consider this your personal invitation to come and see what your industry peers are doing to weather the current economic storm and identify strategies which may help your business improve your profitability.

For our industry vendors and suppliers, while this conference does not include a table top display area, it does however afford numerous networking and sponsorship opportunities where you can meet, interact and discuss business opportunities with the many distributors in attendance. Please review the enclosed registration form to see what participation/sponsorship opportunities may suite your business.

Whether you are a fire equipment distributor, or an industry vendor and supplier, business is all about meeting people with common interests and challenges and working together to develop a "win / win" business relationship.

2012 PAFED Spring Conference Registration Form is available on the PAFED Website: www.PAFED.com.

Illinois Fire and Safety Receives Award

Illinois Fire & Safety was presented with the prestigious "Corporate Award" by the Illinois Fire Inspectors Association at their Fire Prevention Week annual awards luncheon. The award is presented to a company that has provided outstanding support of the association or a fire department which significantly improved a public education program or caused a change in the community that resulted in a greater awareness of life safety and fire prevention awareness. Ben Speer and Matthew Diefenbacher accepted the award at the luncheon on behalf of the company.

Earlier in the year, Illinois Fire & Safety donated a large, three-panel, free-standing trade show display that will be used at a variety of safety functions, including the Illinois State Fair. The display brings awareness to the public about fire extinguishers and their proper use.

In years past, Illinois Fire has provided technical training to the association's members on various topics such as kitchen hood fire suppression systems and fire systems for paint spray booths.

Congratulations to Illinois Fire & Safety on receiving this award!

According to Randy Dysart, CALSAFE president, "Their countless hours of volunteer effort ensures that CALSAFE, as an organization, continues to function for the betterment of our membership and the industry in general."
