January 21 to February 18, 2011
Greetings!

The Green Cup Challenge is well underway with 127 schools posting data so far.  In schools all across the country, lights are dimmed, appliances are unplugged, and students are learning about the importance of individual actions in lowering our collective carbon footprint. Congratulations!

If you have not been able to submit your numbers, please contact your Regional Coordinator or info@greencupchallnge.org for assistance.  Our goal is to have 100% success for our participating schools.

Green Cup Challenge, Week 2 Update

1) What if I can't read my meter on my usual day?
2) Deadline for videos extended to Feb. 7
3) Video voting begins Feb. 8
4) Week 1 results posted
5) Share your GCC success stories
-----------------------------------------

1) What if I have a snow day or can't read my meter? If you can't read your meter on the usual day, just read it as close to the correct time as you can (either early or late).  It is essential that the first and last readings are done exactly 5 weeks apart.  If the middle readings are off by a day, it will skew your percent change for those weeks, but not affect your overall results for the Challenge.

2) The deadline for the GCC Video Challenge has been extended until Monday, Feb. 7th. Some of our GCC schools have had so many snow days, we'd like to give them the extra weekend to submit their videos. Information about submitting your video, and a couple of early entrys can be found on our Video page on our website  http://www.greencupchallenge.net/video.html.

3) Voting for the videos will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 8th.
You will receive a survey link Tuesday morning that you can send along to your school community. Anyone may vote for their favorite video (students, teachers, family members, and friends), so spread the word far and wide.  One vote per email address will be accepted.  Voting ends on the last day of the Challenge, Feb. 18th.

4) Week 1 results received by Jan. 31st have been posted on the RESULTS page of our website at http://www.greencupchallenge.net/results.html.
We will update this page weekly during the Challenge.  Numbers highlighted in RED

indicate a probable data error and should be corrected.  Schools that show a change from baseline greater than 20% have been highlighted in ORANGE.  Schools with large reductions or increases should double check their numbers and be prepared to justify such a large change.  Be sure to submit your weekly data by the Monday morning deadline to appear on this page.

5) Share your GCC successes with us.  We want to know what your school is doing during the Green Cup Challenge.  Send us a quick note, some photos, a news article, or a web link.  We'll share what we hear on a special page on our website.  You may even be selected to be a featured school by the Green Schools Alliance.  Use this online form to tell us what you have been up to http://www.greencupchallenge.net/best.html.

Best of luck to all our Challenge schools. Go Green Cup!

Best,

Katy
